thanks for all the help with choosing my first BM. i decided on a 710.

should i get the "blue box" or should i just buy a torx set at lowe's?

also, if you have a source for militec-1 please share! can't find it anywhere.

thanks.

I say get the "blue box," its got all the torx bits you would use in a nice handy case with the benchmade butterfly on it, They have it on www.knifezilla.com for $10.95 so I'd say its a good idea.
www.pvk.com carries the Miltec Lubricant 1 Ounce Bottle for $6.50 US. Hope that helps

I would just like to say Dont ever get the blue tool kit its made of very low quality parts. The torx is made of soft metal that will turn into a spiral very quickly. The blue base that holds onto the bits strips because of weak plastic. Its made in Asia not America so there quality is poor. These tools just have Benchmades name printed on them, they are not made by them, I have seen a kit exactly like them at a dollar store but it was black not blue. I would suggest geting the Wiha if you want to take a look of both of them here. Another excelent torx tool is this, the wiha can be found here. Hope this helps.

I used it once and tore up the T6. Granted, the screws did have a small dab of loctite on them, but they twisted like cheap pot metal.

I agree that the blue toolbox is of very poor quality. When I used it to tighten the clip on my AFCK the head of the torx just snapped off. I wasn't exerting a great deal of force on it either.

Gotta aggree with crosman177 the blue box looks neat but the design does't allow you to apply equal pressure to the screw head and has a tendency to tilt to one side accelerating the wear on the Torx head screws. You would be better off buying the drivers at Sears, they're just like jewelers drivers, fit better and have no loose parts.

I agree with the above comments regarding the blue box. The link to wiha (www.wihatools.com) is the way to go. Excellent quality and the smaller Torx sizes, like the 5 and 4 and even smaller are all available.

thanks again for the help. i'm ordering direct from militec and off to lowe's for torx. i need simichrome anyway.:)
