This morning I found this picture posted in a local (Chinese) knife forum. Due to the extremely strict knife regulations (even unwritten ones) here, this forum is run through an app, and the link here cannot access the posted pictures, you need to download the app to see the full thread. https://wap.qilanxiaozhu.vip/mag/ci...4988&themecolor=336699&circle_id=119&p_u=7030 For convenience, I screenshoted the whole thread and post them here in pictures.

This is the first broken Busse I saw after those tortured by joe x. I don't know what this one has been through. I left a reply but has not received response yet.

I can accept others from breaking, but Busse......especially if it was not tortured?

I'll let you guys know if there were any future response from that thread.

This is old news and that very picture and its owner discuss it right here on this forum (in another sub forum).

The owner is a respected member here and he indeed tortured that knife. Literally tried to break it (and did obviously) and he stated as much.

There's not much to tell beyond that he hammered it into nails and hit it with a steel hammer repeatedly till it broke.

It's the battle grade (SR-101) version not the INFI combat grade one.

Like we would expect, you try hard enough to break something and you'll eventually be successful.

The owner sought nothing in return from Busse (no warranty coverage) and was very open about that as he stated he was trying to break it and he found it quite tough and took a lot of abuse.

So no real drama or surprise here. He was just playing around and decided to see how much abuse it would take to kill that Battle Mistress and he eventually found the limits.

INFI would have fared better but again, no knife is truly indestructible.

As for the rest of those pictures, those have nothing to do with that member or that thread.

To clarify, I currently own 2x FR28, 2x original FR, 2x OMG15, 1x FMV14, 5x AFBM, 1x MOAB (new edition), 1x NMFBM, 1x TTKZ. In China, there is a ~20% premium compared to US due to the extremely strict knife regulations.

I really don't want to see this happen.

Not tortured? From the background of the photo, I might guess the Busse was hammered into a hardwood stump with a ball peen hammer... who knows what else.

I don't believe I could possibly break my old INFI Battle Mistress under any kind of hard use. And I mean "Use" not intentional torture or extreme abuse.

Ball peen hammer appears to indicate torture.

That's exactly what happened, only worse, it was hammered into steel nails buried in that stump using that steel hammer you see.

Sounded like it was a trooper from all it endured. If I recall correctly, there was lots of drinking going on at the time (Jerry would be happy! 😂) so you know it was given hell!

Owner of broken knife in photo was notified about this thread, no need to tag him here. I’m sure he’ll post if he so chooses.

I so very deeply despise these pointless torture tests, especially on a great blade. Its like working your dog too death, I'll never understand it.

Many thanks for the kind explanation!

Prior to posting this thread, I used google lens to see if it was an old picture but nothing close appreared, so I thought the guy in that forum himself broke the blade. Fortunately I was wrong.

I'm also waiting a pre-ordered TGS19. And the premium should actually be ~30% with good vendors, and even higher with greedy ones.

Pictures on Chinese apps and social media are commonly stolen just like on American apps and social media. This is why it is nice to be able to image search to find the original owner or at least where else that image appears to help understand its source.

Here you go, sir!

Well, Ask and I Shall Receive, it appears... A True Masterpiece in Knife Making Engineering & Execution, Indeed. Plus it CUTS even thin slices of paper with that 0.1" TEB or EBT (Thickness at Edge Bevel, Or Edge Bevel Thickness, take your pick on Knifey Knomenclature...)
YET, at "nearly 5/8 inch" Thickness at the Spine, that's Still Not a Full Inch Thickness, Tsk, Tsk.
Yet You get an A+ Grade for coming up with the "Behemoth" Peace Maker Intro to the "Abomination" Folder!
I Truly Appreciate Phil Harvey's work gone into such a Creation: that anodized titanium duo-descent handle is the bomb in ocular sensations, & imagining it in my paw... Wowie Leading to Zowie... At over 3 Pounds, that's twice the weight of my lightest Katana, & equal to my thicker, longer Tachi War-Sword.
In fact, that May be heavier than the hatchet that sits by the wood stove. (Although I use my chopping long blades more oft for the testing & fun of it, of course. Who doesn't like making kindling with his/her EDC? 🔪)
I suspect that either of those Harvey offerings would make quick work of kindling duty with the right size wood to start with...
All that to say, Thanks, Sir hugofeynman!
It's a start... Ha!
