Could anyone show me the early Buck 301 boxes from 1966 to 1973?
I have some of the 301 knives Schrade made for Buck.
However, I have never been able to find, or even see the box or any packing, they may have come in…. Ken

Ken,
Sorry, I do not have a camera but I can tell you that the boxes you reference are a cream color with a pebble texture, not the light yellow used by Buck during that era. I have a few of them at home and as I recall, they also had dark brown print. Hopefully, Craig or someone will be able to post an actual picture.

As Larry O states, the correct box for the early Schrade made Bucks is much lighter in color and has a somewhat textured, pebble-like appearance; the print is also a darker brown. Other than that, the boxes closely resemble the later more yellowish Buck boxes. BUT this only holds true for the first series (early) Schrade made knives (the 301 has the grooved bolsters); later Schade made knives (301's without a grooved bolster) came in the yellowish boxes.

Ken,
You have the correct box for that 301. It would be more defining if pictured along side the pale yellow boxes that Buck used at that time and for many years following. Your picture above does show the pebble grain texture if you look closely.

Ken, As the Schrade collector you maybe can find out 'HOW' Schrade shipped the knives to Buck. More than likely Schrade shipped them in some type of bulk form and Buck then re-packaged them in Buck boxes. That is what Camillus did. They shipped them 20 at a time each wrapped in paper then Buck put them in the Buck box with inserts. I have never heard how Schrade sent them to the Southern California factory. 300Bucks

Heres the Camillus box that the knives came in, at one time Buck reused the boxes to store parts in. This one has some sort of number on it along with Camillus mark saying 313s were inside..

Hi Tim,Earl, Larry and 300 Bucks from Australia, Thanks for the information on the early 301s.

It is very hard to find information about any Schrade; they were good a knife making and very poor record keepers.
I have about ten Buck 301s, all of the early Schrade and Camillus knives from 1966 to 1973.
I have 5 or 6 John Primble knives also made by Schrade; Like 300 Bucks says, some of them were sold in bulk packs - some were sold in nice boxes.

This is some of my Schrade knives if would like to look.
