Hey everybody. I’ve been using a 110FG for the last 8 years as my everyday work knife and love it. I work in commercial refrigerator repair so it’s constantly cutting water lines and trimming tubes, basic rough use. I’ve been eyeing a custom 110 for a few months now. Aside from wanting a drop blade on it and maybe an oak scale, is there really much difference from the regular shop 110?
Not that I won’t have a few beers and probably order one anyways at some point this month, my birthdays coming up anyways, but I’m just curious.
Thanks!

just the materials.

fg or not. I like the drop point option and finishes. upgraded steel like s30v currently in the steel category, is my preferred steel choice. since Buck switched to real ebony on the 110 a couple of years ago....... the other scale choices are great but the standard might be better than some of the choices depending on your use and tastes.

nickel silver is a nice upgrade to me. choice of rivets or not. also sheath picks and engraving option of one desires that. i dont care too much about it but some do.

just lots of choices is the big difference.

Casey, welcome to the Buck forum.
I really like the drop point blade. Then you could choose which one you wanted to carry, that day. But hey with your birthday coming, that's a good reason. DM

Go for it. Life is short! Everyone should have at least one custom Buck. I got my first custom Buck here on the Buck for sale page. It's a 112 s30v fg with walnut scales in nickel silver. Fit and finish is very nice. I'm having a hard time convincing myself I should use it.

Yes building a custom Buck is a lot of fun and enjoyment when ordering but then when it arrives it’s excitement like a kid at Christmas time.

My first one was the 112 with brass bolsters, heritage walnut dymalux, s30v clip point blade and engraving. I use it from time to time mostly around the home front. I’m reluctant to take it out camping and fishing for fear of losing it. I need to get over that and just enjoy using it as it was intended for and forget about what if’s. Lol I have plenty of knives to go around.

I bought a nickel silver bolster, elk handled, S30V drop point, no rivets. Bought a horizontal carry sheath and love it. If recommend a custom hands down

I second that motion. Also holding out for a drop point option on the 112 from the custom shop.

With so many SP and SFO's that Buck uses a drop point blade I can't understand why Buck just dosen't drop a box of 200 blades at the Custom shop for us to order..Make some mirror polished and I'll pay a $25.00 upcharge. Make a DP in S30V or S35VN and I'll pay more..
Edit: A lot more..

Wish I could get a D2 Clip Point 110. If I recall there used to be other options besides 420HC and S35VN. I know there was a BG42 option.

Liked my Custom Shop 112 with oak grips and S30V that I bought another for my BIL, only in walnut. Go for it.
