Hello all,

Been around BF for awhile now, mostly over at the Spyderco and General subs but never wandered into these parts. Courtesy of Ferahgo and the Pay it Forward Thread I now own my first Buck knife. I have had hundreds of knives pass through my hands but never a Buck surprisingly. I do own several traditional style folders but had always passed over Bucks. The Buck I received is a more modern design and I really like it. What would be some good models to start looking at to get a true feel for the traditional style of Buck knives? of course of have heard of the 110. Might pick one up with some Cabelas points I have saved up.

Well, of course the 110, and then the shorter 112. For a pocket knife I recommend the 302 Solitaire.

Or a 301 or 371 stockman. Same size as the solitaire, but gives you three blades to play with.

Welcome to the club! Always glad to have another Buck Knife owner on our little part of the forum. OH

How do you like that new 293? I've thought about trying one of those.

You should definitely get a 110 or 112. I had a 112 and sold it -- and wish I never did. Now one of my favorite knives of all is a Vantage Pro that I carry regularly.

Bigger knife but feels so awesome. If it's fits your hand get the 110. In fact post a pic of your new 110 or 112 and I will make a leather sheath and send it to you.:)

The Buck 112 is catching my eye. It would make a great pocket carry along with a PM2 or Sebenza. The hunt begins!

It's great! little more play than I would like, but the assist on it is very smooth and fully engages every time without any wrist action (some flippers have issues with that). It took a very nice razor edge just using the sharp maker with little effort. Planning on using it at work this week.

You'll need stout pockets to handle the 112 in your front pocket, much less the even bigger 110. They are both incredibly heavy and wide - a whopping 15 to 16mm across the back. They feel wonderful in the hand but not in the front pocket, at least for me.

I run a seam up the side of my right rear pocket and carry a 110 or 112 there. Since moving to rear pocket carry, I carry the 110 a lot more than the 112 just because it fits my hand better and I prefer the length. I wish Buck would make a lighter, slightly thinner version of the 110, something similar in size and weight to a lage Sodbuster, but until they do, I would recommend either rear pocket or holster carry.

If you want something noticeably smaller than you Sebenza, I would recommend the 501, 55 or 301.

If you want a larger traditional knife for front pocket carry, check out the 500.

Welcome to the forum.
I almost bought that 293 but went with the Momentum instead I really liked those aluminum scales better but wanted the S30V steel blade. I even considered buying both and swapping blades.

Thanks for the recommendations, definitely looking for something smaller to carry loose in my front pocket. I have a Winchester (Buck style) knife that has been kicking around for years that is a perfect size but lacks the quality I would expect from a Buck. I'll be selling off a few Spydercos here soon than I will be picking up one of these Bucks.
