Really am more interested in the coming large Selkirk folder, but couldn't find any for sale yet. Grand Prairie Knives had the small one though, so I ordered one.

Solidly built, zero blade play and razor sharp. at 3.25" fora blade, it fits nicely in the EDC category.

With it's ancestor.

Nice mid-size folder, nothing to complain about. Lock up is solid, opens a little stiff at first, but smooths out the more I use it and at a sub $35.00 price shipped, it's a real bargain.

A tad small for me, but I will be ordering the 3.9" bladed large version soon as I can find one.

Thank you for the review and some great photos. Look forward to you and others trying it out and reporting back on how it holds up long term. I haven't had a chance to do much with the fixed Selkirk I received but hope to soon.

I like the blade shape, the handle looks very comfortable and to offer a sure grip. Thanks for the pics.

I was really hoping for once we could have a discussion about a knife without the China thing having to be mentioned.

My bad, I didn't realize there was that much discussion on that topic in this sub-forum. Sorry if its a sore subject. I was really just mentioning what I would prefer to see in that knife. Just like any other feature that I may or may not like about it. Its really no different than me saying I would prefer it to have been a clip point, or have Micarta scales, or a different color, or 154CM, etc. I originally thought I wouldn't say anything about that and then did it anyway. Should have went with my first impression. I wont mention it again though. I hope the OP enjoys his knife.

Please don't take it personal I just get tired of folks bringing it up, often times without even commenting on the actual topic of the thread, just drive by comments if you will. For some I feel like it's reached the level of OCD. They just have to comment in very post the run across. Not sure what they think they will accomplish? They might be better served to send Buck and email about it ever day for a year but I doubt any of them have ever contacted the company directly. If they have why keep posting here about it.

I doubt anyone here wishes Buck made more knives off shore and I'm sure Buck would make them all here if they could but they apparently can't. You've done nothing wrong and I surely don't hold any sway on this board nor would I want to curtail anyone's freedom of speech even though that doesn't apply to a private forum as such. I just wish folks would/could give it a break and get back to talking about the actual knives rather then were they're made.

We could if that knife was a Kershaw, CRKT, Spyderco or Taylor made Schrade.

I buy my knives with my heart as much as my head. Country of origin matters. That's why Buck puts the American flag on the packaging of their American made knives. Can you imagine a China made Buck with a big Chinese flag on the package saying, "Proudly made in the People's Republic of China"? Or can you imagine Buck selling American made Buck knives without the American flag on it? I can't.

Buck's current position is like the old Buster Keaton gag where he's standing on the running board of 2 cars. Does Buck want to continue being an iconic American knife company or do they want to be a global knife company? Can't have it both ways, IMO.

I'd consider the Selkirk line if it was brought to the US. I'm not buying a 420HC blade without the BOS heat treat, among other reasons.

If every model was made here the complainers would just find something else. They all seem to think they know how Buck should be run better the ones who share the name.

Gentleman , you have both made good points and I am sorry I brought it up and derailed a perfectly good thread. Let's all just agree that Buck turns out a great product line that offers a little bit of something for everyone and leave it at that.

That handle looks comfy, jimping looks like it is in the right place, I like the blade grind, and a deep carry pocket clip? I look forward to hearing about the large version.

I really like that knife. At 3.25" it is perfect for me. I think I might have to add this to my collection in the near future.

I just received a Small Folding Selkirk knife from Buck and wanted to post some comments. After some carry, I have to say that I am impressed with the knife. With its deep carry clip it sits well in your pocket and is not very noticeable in pocket due to the smooth contours the knife. This knife is about 16mm thick at its widest point. As for cutting, this is where the knife shines, it has a large hollow grind on the 3.25” blade and a great Buck edge. Out of the box this knife will easily whittle and cut fuzz sticks for a campfire. So far, I haven’t found any “hot spots” for the grip. The linerlock lockup is around 50% and seems solid when making deep cuts, the opening action is good out of the box and will no doubt get smoother with carry. While the knife is shipped with black and brown Micarta handle scales, I’m sure some enterprising soul will customize the knife with custom grips (I’m thinking stag would look good). I’ll carry it over the next days and see how it performs with farm duties and general outdoors work.

Very nice looking knife. I have the fixed version. Buck definitely has a handle on the quality of all its suppliers.
