Tossed between two. It will be my first. The Mora #2 or a Condor. I would want to make a sheath for the Mora, which I have no problem with. I know I won't like the plastic thing. I already have the leather materials, so the Mora will still only cost $15 shipped. Question is if I could put a lanyard hole in the handle of the more. I've heard that they are 3/4" tang? Also heard the they were full and half? 3/4" tang seems more likely. Thinking about a stud on the butt that I could tie a lanyard to or just drilling a hole. Does anyone know the tang length? If I can't put a lanyard, I'll pay the extra $$ and get a Condor.

It's said that a Mora can take the same abuse as you give a Condor?

Well, as you can read, I really want the Mora, but a lanyard is a key survival tool for me. I have narrowed it down to a Mora #2. The plastic ones just don't cut it for me.

Pics of your wooden Mora with mods would be very helpfull to and I will post mine with custom sheath if I lean toward that decision.

Thanks for your help,

I don't have any wood handled Moras but found this on google.

Hope it helps.

The Condor Bushlore doesn't come as sharp - but that is remediable. It has a full tang, brass pins and lanyard tube, and a fine leather sheath. I found mine for $28.35 shipped - it's up to $28.53 today with free 'Super Saver Shipping'. I shouldn't mention the name, but I am regularly AMAZed at what they have ON their site! Not the best picture...

That leather sheath will also fit my Mora Robust Q and Companion MG. The Bushlore is a great starting point and it's hardwood handle can be sanded to fit and refinished to suit, too.

Stainz,

That was the Condor I was considering. Thanks for the advice, but I believe I am going to go with the Mora.

What I will use for a lanyard on the Mora is a stud for a rifle swivel, add a little JB Weld and we're GTG. I believe I can make a sheath to use as a neck knife or on the belt. Plus, I like to be able to attach plenty of paracord to my sheaths.
