Hi everyone. Been into knives for most of my life but just discovered Busse recently. I've been mostly a Spyderco guy. Still am, but they serve a totally different purpose.

I wanted something to do light chopping at cottages while still being small enough to actually carry semi concealed SOB under a hoodie while around the campfire, or occassionally, elsewhere. I've split kindling with 3.75 inched folders before but I wanted something better, more capable. I wanted as big and bulletproof as possible while being barely small enough to carry. Lots of research later, and I jumped on a good deal for a Badger Attack E.

This thing is IMPRESSIVE! Just holding it makes me want to find something to smash it through. It's a thick blade but the full flat grind makes for an actual knife, not a sharpened crowbar. And the polished spine means I can baton if need be. I think I found exactly what I needed to complete my collections of users.

On to the questions:

-There are dark spots on the handle, are they dirt from handling or just the way the Micarta is? Cleaning advice?

-I'm only 170 lbs, 6 foot, but muscular and lean all at once. Would a NO be a huge difference in terms of concealability SOB? I'm already thinking another inch on the blade...just one more. LOL

-Did I find what you guys would suggest to fit my needs? I went for the E to get more mass behind chops. I can slice with a Spyderco. Any input would be appreciated, but I think I did well.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that I freakin' love this thing. I've been bitten, I'm already trying to find stuff to sell to get a bigger chunk of INFI. :D

Hey, the reason why you got a deal is because that is the pass around knife, so send it to me next, please so I can abuse it a little, thanks.

The BA-E is pretty unique in the busse lineup. It almost handles like a hatchet. IMO you're actually probably able to get more leverage with the BA-E because of the way the blade curves, due to it's smaller size.
Or, you may just want to consider getting Paul's Hatchet.

Dark spots on the micarta can be caused by oils and sweat from your hand. It could be dirt or gunk from previous use. Generally if you take some dish soap and just wash it the dark spots will come out. I don't much worry about it.
You ask about the NO. If you mean the new SFNO then there's a huge difference in size. The BA-E is much easier to conceal. I carry one frequently.
I also carry a NO-E. It's not as easy to conceal but it is closer in size to the BA than the new NO is.
Here's a pic to show the difference. BA on top and NO on bottom.

The NO is only an inch longer but the blade is wider as well.

Congrats on getting a great blade.

Great score on the BA-E! Oh and about the NO-E, Yeah you'll end up with one, and a SH, and a BM.

:D :D

The BA-e is a great little knife. I'm still kicking myself for not yet replacing the one I sold, but I will.

Those pups handle like no other IMHO. Fills the hand, stout, and very capable of handling more than you'd think.

Nice score.

Welcome to the forums. Looking forward to your experiences with that and the rest of your Busses (oh yeh, it will happen...LOL)

Thanks guys. I did mean the NOE. I didn't realize it was a wider blade as well. So there's a big differnce between the 2 for SOB carry? Maybe my next one will just be WAY bigger and stay somewhere til I need it. I can't believe I didn't buy one of these long ago.

Best way to see if the NOE will work concealed for you is to get general measurements on the length width and basic overall profile, then trace it out on some stiff corrugated cardboard. Make a few layers and glue/tape them together so they're stiff enough and see if it's doable for you.

*edit* actually if you have the tools/time you can do this with plywood so that it doesn't flex at all. That can make a big difference in how the mockup feels and will better simulate a steel blade. The NO is also heavier, make sure you keep that in mind :p

I EDC a SHBA with no problem. I tried the same with a NOE and it just doesn't work. That little 1" makes a huge difference in concealability. I know it shouldn't, but it does.

I'm still trying though, but haven't yet come up with a solution.

My wife told me 1" makes a big difference. I guess she's right, but have no idea what she was refering to. LOL

haha sorry I don't have a clue either

I keep looking at the NOE's but think I made the right choice size-wise. It would be a differnt story if I didn't live in the city and the people I camp with didn't call me rambo for using a sub 4 inch folder to get firewood. :grumpy:

I resemble that remark. I used a BA3 for some casual woodcraft and my family reacted as if I was using a sword.

Rick - still looking for my own BAe

Welcome aboard talonturbo! Don't fight the maddness man, just let it come and take over. I have a Meaner Street that I'm thinking of as EDC. Folders have always been my EDC but I want to start carring a fixed blade. Those BA-e have a great wide blade. Really look nice and appear to be very functional. Be sure to keep us posted on how it performs for you. I've been tempted to pick one up on the Exchange. So I'd like to get some feedback on their performance. Good luck with your new found obsession. BTW, since I found Busse, my Benchmade are starting to collect dust.

No Regrets!

You know the BA-E is one of those that just looks bigger than what it is. If you carried a NO, I don't think they'd ever notice.
Have you considered getting a sholder or back rig for that thing? There's a guy here who regularly carried a really long mad dog strapped on his back most of the time. (I think he is in security, though.)
