Hi all, I' m planning on buying my first Busse knife soon(when I can buff up the money), and am thinking of an ASH 1, for a medium sized chopper/camp knife. Now, I' ve got a few questions:
Where can I buy it, for the best price?I need a place that ships internationally.
And, do all Busses come without a sheath, just a cardboard slip?
And finally I would like to hear something about that steel, INFI, before I found out about Busse I had never heard of it before.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:I' m also looking at one of the small Busse knives, but I don' t even know the name, I just saw some pictures of it in the picture thread.

Get an ASH1 or you will regret it! It's my favorite knife and I have owned a lot of different models. PLUS... it's available now.

Get the ASH1 now since that's what is offered on www.bussecombat.com (BC). Put the order in now. The knife has been up for a while and may/will be discontinued at any time. Well, I shouldn't say "discontinued" but they stop taking orders for it none the less and you can't order it anymore would be the ultimate end result....so, I'll say it's "discontinued indefinitely".

Once BC stops taking orders, then www.bussecompanystore.com (BCS) will have some finished extra stock (what ever you wanna call it) offered. Or buy from private sellers on the bladeforums.com exhange. Take note of the MSRP and compare it to the exchange price and figure out what you're willing to pay.

The smaller knife you may be thinking of is the BATAC....? A bit smaller than the ASH1 and tactical looking? Or did it look really small, like a skinner....Game Warden?

Thank you all, this is the small knife I meant, picture taken from the picture thread:

That is an Active Duty (abbreviated AD). It looks like someone stripped the coating and polished up nicely with different grits of sandpaper.

That would be a good first choice but are somewhat harder to find because right now you can only get them off the secondary market (i.e. here on the exchange). Anywhere from $200-230 is probably a good price on them, I would say.

Also forgot to add,

bussecollector.com is a great place to browse through a bunch of the models and see the size, shape, blade thicknesses of many of the knives over the years.

Buy em all Miro44... ;) it is only a matter of time before your paycheck will go strait to Jerry.... :D

Seriously... it will...

OH... and the AD is a Great knife! If you like that size (3.5" blade) also check out the Cutellus (cultie) it's a nice EDC type knife.

Good luck... post pics when you get one...

If you can't get a BM get an ASH, you will buy these for sure eventually so may aswel buy them now.

im currently living in the philippines, but when i get home next september (thats '09, not '08) i'll be buying myself some infi. i loved the look of the mini ss before i left back in sept '07 but basically nobody reviews busse (probably because you dont need to review it...). i also love the FFBM and want one. sometimes i want one more than i want to see my girlfriend again....dont tell her that. but i could also get my hands around an ASH. so....yeah. price is a matter for us poor college students and i'd prefer to stay under $300, which rules out the BM until i can get a real job with real money. what do you all think i should do first? SS or ASH?

Personally, I'd go with an ASH1 first, the base price ASH1 for $297 is coated with standard size handles... But if you want mag grips, there's an extra fee, and if you prefer double cut (Busse's twice beadblasted) finish, that's another fee. In the Busse Company Store, there are Sus Scrofa LE's still available for the same price and they are satin/Tigerhide micarta... All dependa on what you want it for. I'd say that the ASH1 is definitely more of an all around use type of knife.

Well, thanks all, I found somebody who will sell me an ASH 1 used, Can' t wait. But i can' t take any pictures, because my camera broke.Ah well..

That's actually my pic! It's a one off Active Duty. I would guess it's between .14 and .17 thickness. Feels great in the hand, probably none better. The handles are black micarta.
As far as your first one based on your specs, the ASH is probably the best bet. One of the earlier ergo's (SH-E) or a FSH would be better in my opinion. They are a bit bigger and more $$$ of course...

YOu most likely cant go wrong with any choice...but the Fusion Battle Mistress and the Anniversary Steel Heart are 2 stand outs that I own...actually, thats all I own + a Gamewarden.

actually, now that i've done some more research i've decided i want a hellrazor too. so my current list of what i want is....everything. more the FBM, hellrazor, mini ss, and ASH. i think i'll end up buying the ash if nothing else catches my fancy first. which is bound to happen. now if i only had the money....

i'm also a newbie...

i started with a game warden thinking that maybe i would get a CGASH or perhaps a BATAC in the future...

after receiving the GW in the mail, i promptly ordered a FBMLE a few hours later and i am expecting it in about one or two more days...

you might as well start with the mistress, because you will eventually get one anyways...
