Hi all,

I have lurked for quite a while in here and can't say for sure that I am going to buy a Busse anytime soon, but IF I was, what would you suggest?

Here are some parameters:

1. under 400.00
2. more conventional blade and handle (nothing with holes, significant swaybacks, etc)
3. something I can wear on my hip in a sheath.
4. it would be used for normal camp stuff, but I want it to be rugged and heavy enough to do damage to a log or small tree

thanks guys and if my parameters are not specific enough, I can try again.

I appreciate your input.

nothing with holes
You're going to have a problem with that one. Virtually all Busse Combat knives have a Talon Hole at the hilt.

oh, I meant no weird forefinger holes, sorry for the confusion

3" - 4" Blade
Active Duty
Game Warden
Meaner

Active Duty being my first choice, but the Warden's are cheaper usually.

Also 5" - 6" Blade
Badger Attack TAV (BATAC)
User Satin Jack TAC

Also Chopper
User Combat Grade Fusion Battle Mistress (Not often, but under $400 is a possibility)

probably 6 inches or over. I want something beefy but not unwieldy

The SFNO or ASH1 seem to fit your requirements, and the latter fits within your budget given that they can be ordered direct right now, with delivery in three months or so.

You can pick up a nice CG BATAC (Badger Attack) in your price range. You might get lucky and find a LE model for just over $400.00, but you just missed them about a month ago at the company store. They were $397.00 a pop and .270 thick.

Here is a pick of a LE (top) with two CG BATACs (bottom).

Heck, almost forgot...

Combat Grade ASH-1s are available now at Busse Combat if you can wait!!

You can't go wrong with a BATAC. It's a 5" blade but its got the heart, soul, and capabilities of a 6 inch blade. Talk about beefy.

hi guys,

thanks for all your replies. I am really not in a big hurry at all, so waiting is not a problem.

Is it feasible to expect to be able to trade for a Busse with custom fixed blades, or is it rare for folks to unload their Busses?

Thanks all,
Brett

No, you can find a ton of different models for sale on the exchange or the trade board.

+1:thumbup:

If you want a slightly larger blade than the BATAC you can't beat the ASH1. The price is more than easily able to fit in your budget with some options added also.

Couple good mentions of the ASH1 available for orders at http://www.bussecombat.com/
since you're not in a hurry. It'll be a while before they start shipping.

Just be careful of the trap I fell into. The ASH1 was supposed to be my first Busse and I've already got two cuz I'm so damn impatient. Poke around here and you start to crave these things...:)

Hell Razor (if you get a lucky price)
Steel Heart Ergo (user)
ASH-1

Edit: Wow, about 6 extra replies came in while I was typing this (spent too much time drinking not typing)

CG ASH-1 is your knife... You could get it double cut with canvas micarta shipped to you within your budget too. Or you could pick a crinkle finish and spend the extra on a sheath...

Thanks guys. got my wheels turning....

where would I get the ash-1 with a crinkle finish?

Thanks,
Brett

The ASH-1 is a beauty, but not nearly as good a chopper as some of the other mentions. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it, UNLESS you're serious about doing some significant chopping with it...

If you're in to chopping w/your camp knife, better go Hell Razor, or even better an Ergo Steel Heart (or even Natural Outlaw would chop better than the ASH-1.)

Good luck!

Go to the busse combat website and click on knives or ordering and follow it from there to the ash1 page...you can pick what blade and handle you like..
