I have never held a Busse but I see without a doubt they are the best! I just broke a cold steel trailmaster and decided (never again)... I have an option for a trade. It is the proto ergo set. They say it is the ones used to promote the ergo line. One of them is a game warden ergo. The only one ever made! its a total of 5 knives. What should they be worth? does anyone know?? Its a high end trade I just want to cover my 6

I dont know, he is a heck of a nice guy tho. Sounds like he has a lot of integrity!

If it's who I think it is, then you are sorely mistaken with regards to that last bit. He was banned here for gross misconduct and then rebanned several times after trying to sneak back in. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ill-the-plank-log-rolls?p=8533024#post8533024

There were also some Soul-1 shenanigans (selling something that wasn't supposed to be sold) in which he appeared to be involved.

I recommend you choose another way to start your collection. Take that for what it's worth (not much).

I agree.

Beware of him.....his word is worthless.

Regardless of who the other trade party is, I would give some careful thought before acquiring a special set of blades like that. It is very hard to pin down the value, as they seldom trade hands. What is it worth to you to have a set of safe queens? Keep in mind that they will probably not be easy to move in the future if you later decide to sell or trade. The market for the rarer and more valuable Busse knives is soft.

Wow you killed a trailmaster nice !! Pics if you can. I would say go with any of the fbm models you can't go wrong . Just my 2¢ P.S beware of the infi bug it will eat all your money :)

I didnt take any pics of the Trailmaster, But it ticked me off! Broke a little lower than in half (does that make sense lol) it was the san mia 3 blade. I called cold steel told them I only had the knife for a week and they needed to fix it (please) so I tossed it in the mail that day and sent it. That was nov 17th. I called the other day they havent even opened warranty boxes yet and couldnt confirm they got mine. He said I was looking at 6 to 10 weeks... I am not very happy about that. So nov 18th I became a busse fan!

Try one of the newer Busses, first.

Quality and design ... excellent. Price ... survivable.

If and only if ("iff" to mathematicians) you like the new Busse, then consider the rarer, older Busses.

It's like swimming. On your first real attempt, best not to jump in the deep end ... no matter who the lifeguard might be.

Wise advice. Consider starting by buying a Busse that fills the role you expected the CS TM to do. Beat it in the exact same way. When it doesn't break, doing that or anything else, then you will understand. Hang out here for a while, read, absorb, participate, have fun. Then consider further investments.

While we're giving advice...

Know what you're buying... Comparison pix, reviews, original & secondary market price range, etc... Especially secondary market price range on models no longer available through Busse. 'Search' is your friend here and on the BF.com Busse Exchange and a little research goes a loooooooong way toward not having "buyer's regret" over a purchase on the interwebz. :) Most everybody likes to make a little cabbage on selling off some knives from time to time, but there's a couple of people out there who aren't in it for the knives (I won't mention names...specifically one name...but a little research will show the obvious gouging flipper(s) quickly)... So take the time to find what's fair for what you want and exercise a little patience to save a lotta green. :)

Welcome to the world of Busse, and Good Hunting! ...And if you have questions, there's a lot of good folks here and at Busse who will help to steer you in the right direction.

Really good advice here and I wish I would have asked more questions before I dove in because the guys here really look out for newbies. If your patient and you want a really cool experience go custom shop and order something the way you like it, the Busse staff are great to work with and really nice people.

Good luck! Rob

Holy kaka! I spoke with this scumbag this morning about a piece he had up on eBay! Rob from Oregon, he told me he has all these busses over 100 he's trying to sell ever since his son died he hasn't been into them as much when I asked him what forums he was on' what a freakin POS! He sounded phony for some reason, good thing I went with my gut and kept it moving.
