My girlfriend and I recently put the Ratmandu that I ordered five years ago from the Swamp back into our user rotation, and that got me thinking that we needed to add an actual Busse into our collection. After all, when a knife person thinks of the toughest knives on the market, Busse products instantly come to mind, and it definitely says a lot to me when a product always looks to be the one all others are usually compared to, even if one is a hater.

After reading so many reviews and figuring out some of the really interesting abbreviated names, the decision was made to pursue a BG ASH. After reading so much I have also found a new level of respect for Jerry as a person, one can't be successful without critics and haters, and I will leave it at that.

We snagged our BG ASH here in the exchange section at a fair price. Here are some pics next to our RMD.

Excellent choice the muddy tan canvas is a great combo, went for one myself :-) lol.
Congrats !!!!!

Nice, I had a ratmandu for a while and it never really did much for me. The Ash I really like love the sculpting of the grips. Busse really does a great job with ergonomics as well as the great blades. I like the muddy blade and tan canvas looks sharp.

Dang! 6.5 mm thick blade? I didn't know about these knives until now, wow; what kind of steel is it made of? It looks like a tank, and comfy too. I'm getting the bug just looking at it. That's a real beast of a knife.

While you can...

Excellent addition....Great color combination...Congrats....

Thank you folks, we do like the color combination! The micarta-garolite is definitely grippy, the ergonomics are really good, the balances nicely, and the knife handles extremely well. I love the knife, it's exactly what we were hoping for.

Dave, your BG ASH is an amazing looking piece, the TG along with the black and green G10 is awesome looking.

makariotes, it truly is thick stock, but the height of the blade along with the high saber grind allows it to cut well. It makes nice thin cuts on potatoes, lol.

I can't wait for it to help with firewood prep.

Yeah, it seems like it can do that. I only have one fixed blade and many folders, I was thinking about getting a real nice fixed blade, and I am thinking this is on the top of the list; good thing I looked. I'm kind of new here, maybe a couple of years, and I'm also new to knives in general, just a few years since I started carrying a knife (I live in San Diego, people freak out if you even say "gun"); what draws me to these blades is the craftsmanship and amount of thinking that the makers put into their stuff, it is an awesome thing to behold, I used to work with very precise machines and I know how hard it is to make things of this nature.

In my situation I don't think I will use it much though; I broke my back at work a few years ago and it is really hard to get to the wilderness, the farthest I go is from my bedroom to the garage, ha.

I got to do a search and find out who sells these Busse knives, I bet they are pricey, at least they look pricey, but you get what you pay for, right?
Who did you buy it from? I wonder what kind of steel it is made of.
Anyway, sorry, I'm blabbing away here. Very cool knife for sure. Thanks for responding to my comment.

Hey Makaritoes they were a very limited run and all sold directly from busse. Take a look at the website and you can see a lot of what they have made, bussecombat.com The steel on these is Sr101 which is very tough and holds a great edge, the steel they use in most of the offerings is their INFI which is even tougher. Both are terrific steels. You can also find lots of them on the exchange here.

Thanks for the reply CricketDave, I will definitely go check them out; I have never heard of that steel, that tells you how much I know about knives:) I'm going to their site right now.
