Hey guys,

So I am greatly considering ordering a Busse. Between 7-8" It will be used for possible combat, wood cutting food preparation and fashioning of wooden items.
A budget is slightly an issue but I can manage up to 800$(this is including the cost of a sheath) I like a basic Bowie design that is why the Team Gemini currently for offer at bussecombat.com caught my eye. However since my knowledge of knives isn't all that great I thought I would ask the experts. (my previous knives have been mainly production middle value blades Fallkniven, Spyderko, Ka-Bar, Buck etc)

Any thoughtful recommendations would be very much appreciated. FYI this knife will receive heavy usage, and will be taken into both wet and very dry conditions.

Cheers,

Jason

I would suggest you to get a couple of Team Gemini, best bang for buck INFI piece at this time.

I'd take a look at the Sarge 7 as its still available from the shop. To me it seems like a more user friendly knife than the TG

Thanks for the suggestions - I will check out the Sarge 7, however I am experienced with knives larger blades in particular(Just not Busse ones). Perhaps I will get both, I will be needing a slightly smaller knife aswell.

Welcome to the Busse forum!

Best price bet would be the Team Gemini Light Brigade (TGLB), considering that you can get it in the available coating and handle options that you prefer through Busse.

That aside, the NMSFNO (Nuclear Meltdown Special Forces Natural Outlaw) might be a bit better at the wood cutting/food prep role while still fulfilling the other roles mentioned. :) This one will require some hunting as they are mainly available for sale on the secondary market now.

Comparison pic of the two (Please note that the Team Gemini shown is the original TG and not the Team Gemini Light Brigade, though the size is the same):

My favorite is the SHe but the SFNO, NMSFNO, HellRazor, SAR8, SARGE7, and LBTG are all really nice too.

I have big hands. If you have huge hands, the Ergo handles might be a little tight. All the others I listed have larger handles. I haven't tried the FSH but I have a FBM and I like the fusion handles too.

I think the biggest individual factors will be the handle shape/size and how much weight you are willing to carry. That will narrow down what is best for you.

I also think a B10 might be the best option, and leave enough for a nice smaller match for detail work

Thanks guys -_- my budget has increased to 1000$ I really like the look of the NMSFNO so thats on the list, I am also going to probably purchase a NMFBM for a large blade aswell uhhg make that 2000$ I wont buy my new .357 after all.

I think you will really like the tglb its a really good all around blade, I've got 2 and have beat on both. Used them for camping, food prep, fire making and skinned with. No complaints at all. I even got a new one for my daughter to carry when she deploys with the army, and I wouldn't get her anything but the best.
