Hey guys,

So I have a shopping list right now:

1) RMD CG
2) Ratweiler
3) Grayman Satu
4) Infi ????

The question is what INFI blade to get? I was going to ask this question in the Busse sub but feel that like minded peeps here would have a better grasp of the question  I have an ESEE-6, RS, Swamp Warden, and Spyderco Military that are all used often as EDC or weekend hikes/camping trips. I also have a Scrapper 5 that hasn't really found a niche/role yet. I want the Ratweiler for all the obvious reasons and I just don't have a knife in that size range yet. The RMD has to be bought to help build my "street cred" here....I keep hearing it will oust the ESEE and I'm all for competition in my rotation :) The Grayman is a hard justification for me with all the bad press he has received and myself being active duty, but that knife is interesting and I want to see how "hard use" an "overbuilt" folder can really be.

So with my entire, rambling thought process now infused into your cranium, let fire the comments, please!

P.S. How in the H#ll do I even order the damn thing? BUSSE lingo is even worse than Swamp Mumble....

The B10s are still a sleeper of a blade, they still sell very reasonable and are a great chopper that is not are hefty as many of their Busse contemporaries. You will only get one on the second hand market now as they were a limited release. If you want a real hand full of steel just now there are still plenty of NMFSHs (Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Steel Heart) showing up with regularity in the marketplace (there are two thicknesses as well, around .32 which was the release from last year and .36 that was only thrown out on the table at Blade 13). Right from Busse the TGLB (Team Gemini Light Brigade) is a fantastic blade and can still be had from the factory at factory prices (about an 8 week wait from order – you don’t pay till just before they are ready to ship though). For a working blade the Comp Finish is really my favourite !!!!

I can post up pics later of all of these if you like but you can also find most on a search here as well.

Andy :D

What size are you thinking of?
There is quite a choice on secondary market and reasonable prices can be found.

elof,

As far as size goes, I'm really open to suggestions. I have one of about every "useable" size already or on the list so the INFI blade will be covering something I already have and I'm ok with that ;) The mean streat looks alot like a RS? Is this a true with most of the other -kin knives?

I think I am a little bias since I have several of them in different configurations but if you are looking for a knife that is a go anywhere do anything knife that is not too big and heavy I would go with a HHFSH or HOGFSH. They are an 8 inch version of the current NMFSH and are .320 thick.

Shaving Sharp,

That is a beautiful tool you have there! What is that forward hole on the guard for? I see it on most Busse's. Is it functional at all?

I think those holes are used in the manufacturing process to locate the knife blank in a fixture in a CNC machine. They are also used by users to put a finger guard on the handle.

Anniversary Mean Street is about the same length as RS but it is lighter and handle is much smaller/thinner.

Leaner Meaner Street looks a bit more like RS and has similar ergos

The Basic 10 is definitely on my list... But I can't seem to recall ever reading an edge-thickness measurement for one... :(

Chiral, sorry can't help you. Mine might have been reprofiled by previous owner, it's sporting a nice convex edge, but I believe they came convex from Busse.

JWLevin,
I'd say that you could not go wrong with TGLB, it is one of the must have Busses.
Hogs would most likely tell you that FSH (Fusion Steel Heart) is the absolute must have (it's the logo knife) in one of it's older versions (HOGFSH, HHFSH, SHSH or ASH-1) and one of the Battle Mistresses. Being of the fairy recent brood I'd definitely would vote for TGLB (CF), it really is a do it all knife, and the appearance of original TG on The Walking Dead made it an instant classic.
I agree with B10 recommendation as well. A very light and ergonomic chopper, and in that role INFI is excelling.

The MS is a great blade. I use mine constantly. The B10 is also a great choice. You really can't go wrong with any of the Busse models.
