So, I'd like to get my first busse :)

I` sure a lot here can suggest something that fits my needs as this will be a knife that actually gets used

Right now on my pack I have a RAT-7 in D2 and I absolutely love that size/balance and the handle size. I'd could go with a busse that was a little longer but overall this is the size I'm looking at. I'd like something .200" or .250" so that it will last FOREVER.

What models does everyone suggest?
Pictures would help too :D

Get a Sarsquatch. Awesome blade. I LOVE mine. Very usefull design. Great handle. It's 0.187" thick, but with INFI its not going to be a problem.

SarSquatch will be a step up from your Rat-7, both in capability and weight.
You gotta figure what you're asking is a bit difficult: the Rat-7 is a near-perfect knife and you're asking for something different or even better. Not an easy task.

A Basic-7 would get you similar size and weight to your RAT, but give you a more durable edge than your D-2 in terms of heavy chopping. The D-2 ought to be the same or maybe slightly better for edge holding on finer materials.

A Natural Outlaw-Ergo or Steel Heart-Ergo will also give you more durability, but they'll add some weight to your pack.

A Hell's Razor would be a good choice as well.

The Skinny ASH-1 is available at the Busse Company Store right now. That'd be my vote. I liked my first so much I ordered a second one.

Get an ASH-1 at original price, either from Busse Combat or the Busse Company Store.

I agree!

The epitome of Busse, in my opinion, is a Battle Mistress. Busses are about power. Feel the power of a Battle Mistress in your hand and you get that Busse feeling. Any Battle Mistress will do and many are available here on the forums. Next best thing is a Steal Heart (8 inch blade) especially the Heavy Heart or LE.

The point of this blade is for on the belt, around camp, hiking etc. I have the RAT-7 on my back pack / BOB that goes with me allover but may be in the truck and not on the hike. So, I don't really want to get another RAT-7 although I've thought about it. This busse technically will be replacing my CR Shadow which I found is not comfortable to use AT ALL. Cylinder handle bring the suck.

The ASH-1 I've been looking at but was not to sure size comparison to the RAT-7... sure I can read measurements but I meant the "feel" size ;)

I`ll check it out closer.

What thickness are most of you guys ASH-1?
And how is the busse steel compared to the D2?

Sorry for the noobness but what's "DOUBLE CUT" mean?

Here's a thread with some good ASH-1 info...
Balislinger's post #44 has a nice review on 4 different variations.

oops... edit to add link: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=567248

Oh... and double cut is a matte finish like a bead blast.

.

Thanks!

What's the finish on the one 3rd from the left?

Also is that the ASH1 too?

The finish is the double cut (bead blast type). it looks like a 2007 special edition... if it is a 07SE it has the thinest handles (G-10) of all the ASH-1 variations. Here are some more pics next to a SFNO w/ standard grips.

That's an ASH-1 LE... satin and linen tiger hide micarta. The best of the bunch IMHO.
