Jeff Randall is getting sued by the parent company?

I know what knife company I'm not buying from anymore.:grumpy:

Another one is gonna bite the dust.

So you are saying that he is being sued by Ontario? Could it be because he started making their own more custom versions of the RATs? Would this mean that there is a disagreement between the two?

cbach,

do your research and you will find that Nick CEO of Ontario is at fault. Jeff's contract with Ontario has been over for some time now. Nick is just having a hissy fit. their former RAT line of knives can't be manufacured anymore. He is losing profits.

Show support and get some RAT Cutlery gear! :D

Was Jeff Randall ever involved with Camillus or is this in reference of another knife designer's problems with Camillus?

I think the link with Camillus is that it is a looter mentality that leads a business to borrow a lot of money to keep a business alive and then, seemingly, go under and keep the loot. That's greed.

"R.A.T." stands for Randall's Adventure Team and the thought that a company would even threaten to sue someone for using their own name is way over the line.

Greed. Trying to take a man's name. I hope that Ontario doesn't go down the toilet like Camillus did. As Jeff Randall pointed out in another thread, a lot of people are employed by Ontario and they have nothing to do with this.

I can't believe the "shoot myself in the foot" decision this guy at Ontario decided to make.

According to the Queen website, it appears Ontario owns Queen, so if Ontario goes down so does Queen.

I'll buy another of Jeff's knives ASAP to support him and his company.

Hi all,

Fyi this e-mail was sent to Nick Trbovich (his pesonal e-mail) last Saturday. I also phoned him the day before & left my phone number. So far I have not heard a thing from him.

As a matter of interest I e-mailed Mr.Randall on Saturday, and got a reply clarifying his position. To me, it fully covered the justice of his cause.

As Mr.Trbovoch has not yet replied, in any way (even with 'this is in the hands of the lawyers', please be patient) I don't think I need add anything more........other than 'draw your own conclusions'

Dear Mr. Trbovich

Sometimes I get to hear of outrageous things that happen to really decent people - to the extent that the injustice of what has transpired is overwhelming. This appears to be the case with Mr. Jeff Randall of RAT cutlery.

Without covering the full details of the situation, in essence it would seem that you have chosen to use the size & power of Ontario knives to use litigation as the way to pressurize Mr. Randall to give up his ‘pre-owned’ RAT name and, basically, cease selling any ‘RAT named’ knives.

However, before I take any action to publicize, to the best of my ability, the outrageousness I personally consider such an action, offer you the opportunity to clarify the situation from Ontario’s perspective. If you fail to provide any satisfactory counter argument, within the next 2-3 working days, you leave me with little logical alternative than to believe you do not have a good a case…. & thus leave me free to add my voice to the other who are in support of Mr. Randall.

For clarification, I do not know, & have never met Mr. Randall. My current perspective has been shaped by the outrage currently expressed in general knife forums.

Sincerely yours,

Alan Edwards

I was in the market for a fixed 3 inch and was about to get the ontario RAT-3. I heard about this a couple days ago and I now have a RAT RC-3 on the way (and I hear its better anyway, albeit a bit more expensive).

I'll be investing in some RAT sweetness pretty soon myself.I can always use another great knife and for a great cause it's even better.
