First Case purchase

Actually my first TWO Case knives. Don't have photos yet but just bought a Case Select Trapper with Snakewood and a yellow handle CV Trapper. Both are very nice knives and I plan to buy many more. My local Platinum dealer (Northwest Hardware) had everything 20% off. That, coupled with a $25 gift card I had got me the Select for right at $70 and the yellow handle for $20 and change.

Just bought and received a GEC, blood red jigged Trapper last week and I'm still up in the air as to whether I like half stops better or not? I do know that I've offically hooked on slip joints in general and Trappers in praticular.

Between the GEC and the Case Select I prefer the overall feel and slimmer profile of the GEC as well as the steel but prefer the clip point blade of the Case. All three are nice in their own right though. I'll be getting more of both brands.

Sounds like you got some good ones. I really like trappers myself and carry one along with a sak just about everyday. Welcome to the forum.

 Welcome to the addiction. I love trappers too, and have a few from Case. I carry a yellow 3254CV just about every day.(got it in my pocket now)

That's the same as the one I bought. I like the looks of the yellow handles, (I guess they are some type of polymer) and would like to pick up a medium Stockman, Trapperlock and a Sodbuster Jr in this color as well as a GEC Stockman and Pioneer.

And I'd have thought in your line of work you might like something with more of a pattern resembling this:

(or at least orange...)

;) Good having you here.

Badhammer where do you live I see VA and we have a few Northwest Hardwares around Salem but I didn't notice any sales last week. Way to go on the purchase though I love me some slippies.

:D:D Our convicts all wear white. I'd have to get me one in straight white bone! I do have a green one, a bermuda green, a key lime green, a bear head slimline in brown, and an amber bone trapperlock in CV. I do have an orange full sized copperlock though.

I need to get me an amber bone trapper in CV to match my trapperlock.

I didn't see anything about when the sale would end. In fact I'm planning on heading over again tomorrow. FYI. Just called and the 20% off is still on today and tomorrow.

Yes! Yessssss! (tents fingers) Excellent! Come over to the dahk siiiiide!!!
It is pointless to resist the powers of Case. (or GEC, for that matter)
Congratulations! If you get a chance, it would be great to see picture of that Select trapper!

In just a few hours, I plan on cutting out of work early and making my way over to ye olde Case Master Dealer. Master steel pushers, is what they are.

Please accept my apologies for the poor quality of my photos.

I put "Ole Yella" in the Select box for the photo, it came in a little whitish carboard box.

Hi Badhammer -

Nice knives!

I originally collected the Trapper pattern when I started buying knives "for no good reason" back in the mid 80s. I just like that pattern.

Many of my purchases back then were from Case - they make great knives.

Thanks for the pictures.

best regards -

Stopped back by Northwest Hardware today and picked up a Case 05710, Damascus Canoe in Burnt Amber. The box is dated 12/12/06 (might be 08, hard to tell). This was the display knife and while it dosen't how any handling or wear it needed a little cleaning, oil and sharpening. I like this one a lot.

While not a Case I did stop by a pawn shop and got an absolutely mint Buck 701 for $25. It's not been used or sharpened since the factory and looks to have never even seen the inside of a pocket.

I'm a pretty happy camper all the way around!
