This is not my first Cold Steel but is my first folder from Cold Steel . I don't have a big experience with folders , I don't own hundreads of them nor like them very much because they don't seem very reliable to me . All this is changed now , I have fixed blades that I trust less then the Voyager . It is the 4 inch version . The only problem with is so far is the clip witch is unusable in my opinion and got it down . The tri-ad lock is incredible . I think this is a begining of a beautifull friendship , I'm looking at the talwar now ...

Cool. I've found the 4 inch to be the most useful size for a general purpose folder.

The 4-inch Clip-point Voyager is one of my favorite EDC knives.

Quite a solid knife for the money!

Congrats... They are a well made folder.
I like the old style Voyagers. I don't know why they changed the design completely. It's not even remotely the same knife anymore. Not saying they are bad, just different. But then again, I'm not one that likes change :D

I agree with you I also don't like changes . Older one doesn't have the new lock. Well the old lock worked for years and I bet is as strong or stronger than the tri lite at holding weight .
5 old style voyagers and will buy a couple more when money allows off e bay or where ever I find one . I prefer the 6" blade models since I can carry any size I want in my state with my permit. I carried a 5" for a long time when I traveled across country . Then moved to larger when became available .

Well, for stabbing purposes, the new model handle is heads and shoulders above the old one, where there's really nothing but a gentle last curve to prevent your hand from sliding down onto the blade. The new one, hand is really safely locked in there for any possible way you could use it. Also, the new model flicks open much easier for me, almost feels loose, until it locks up rock solid into the TriAd.

I never felt the old ones were lacking in the locking department either. It wasn't that long ago that the bay was loaded with them :D
Now you have to actually look for them.

That could very well be true, but I don't stab with any of my folding knives. I don't trust any lock that much. I like my fingers :D

The Voyager is a great knife that offers a lot of utility for the money. I have the XL clip blade and love it.

I don't either, but if I had to, I could, and fingers would be safe no matter how hard the target. I also carry a gun I don't plan to use either.

Don't worry with either one you can do a whole lot of sticking things and the locks will hold . I have stabbed through the the mud flaps of my 18 wheeler with old style 5" voyager and never a worry . If used for SD people lot softer. I don't believe a a rib wouldn't slow up a voyager blade .

That's a great idea. Did you leave it like that or clean it up a bit? The reason I ask is because I've found FRN and similar materials respond pretty well to polishing with Flitz or similar. It darkens them back up after sanding, etc. and gives them a finished look.

very nice choice, I own one as well but wish I had it in plain edge. really don't like the serrations on CS knives.

I removed the clip, masked out an area and applied a layed of JB Weld. After it dried I sanded it smooth and painted it black. The handle texture is hard on the hem of my pocket.
I learned this from Nutnfancy's video.

I own five Cold Steel folders. Four of them are plain blade models. I don't like the serrations either. The small teeth aren't very durable. No problems at all with the plain blades.
