Well BF, I am putting myself out there with these pics, and am anxiously awaiting your feedback.
The knife pictured is the first knife I was commissioned to make. I started making knives back in December. I have collected for some time, but never had thought about making one myself. So back around Christmas, on a whim, I decided to make one for my brother as a present. He was pleased, but I was not satisfied. I kept working on my grinding, and my processes. After making a few more knives for friends, I was seeing improvement on each one that I turned out. After one of my friends posted pics of the knife I gifted to him here on BF, I actually received a couple orders! I was certainly not expecting that! The encouragement and kind words that I received from members of this forum was very humbling and greatly appreciated. It has fueled the fire to continue striving to improve in this craft. The knife that is pictured is the 9th knife that I have ever completed. The gentleman that received it was very happy, and actually placed an order for another. I can't say enough about the resources and knowledge that this forum provides, and the camaraderie that exists is fantastic. Enough with the blah, blah, blah. Here are the specs on the knife. I'd love to here your thoughts and feedback. I will be posting more pics of completed knives and some WIPs for anyone that is interested.
Blade Length is 5"
Steel is 1084 with forged texture and polished hollow grinds (there are a couple light grind lines, but customer actually wanted me to leave some in there. He thought that it made the blade look more rustic)
Handles are Ironwood with brass hardware and lanyard tube
Spine of the blade was been polished
The pics do not show it well, but the point of the blade is swedged.
Again, I'd love to here your thoughts and opinions as well as any questions. Special thanks to Iowa Buck and Kryptonite 51 for their friendship and constant encouragement.
