First CPK action with a SDFK

I've been lurking for a few months and finally got my first CPK a couple weeks ago. I know, I know, it took me way too long. I'm just gonna blame it on dericdesmond because he knows where I hang out and what I buy and he should've been peer pressuring me. :D

I pretty much knew I wanted to start with an SDFK and go from there. I like to play by the firepit and process wood for the fire. I love big choppers too but quickly realized they aren't really available these days and when they are they're pricey. I'll get one someday hopefully.

So, today after work I went right out to play with my new toy. I also took out my NMFSH for its ten year anniversary but that's another story. I got to batoning and chopping with the SDFK right away and of course it didn't let me down. I wasn't ever worried it would.

My only small suggestion would be to have a rear lanyard hole. While chopping with three fingers I really think a small lanyard would help it stay in my big hand better. Maybe the hidden lanyard hole like on the 10'' light chopper could be added someday.

I guess there's room for a fourth brand in my fixed blade knife collection even though I felt like I was cheating on my Busse's when I started looking into CPK. :D I'm very happy with my purchase and I'll definitely be buying more.

Lastly, I just have to say that Jo is awesome to deal with.

Thanks
Doug

Congrats and welcome!

I live 30 minutes from where Busse knives are made but have been happy with my CPK's so haven't ever tried one

I will say the CPK crew are some of the best people you can ever have the chance to work with!

Congrats Doug! How’s that HR2 treating you? Carothers is an amazing outfit. While Becker is what got me started in the “hard use” knife foray, Busse introduced to extremely tough bomb proof mid tech knives. I love Busse and plan on picking up a SatinJack 7 when it comes out. I will say though CPK is my favorite of the bunch. Nathan is eh, ok (J/K Nate) and Jo is a sweetheart and an absolute pleasure to deal with. My Busse and kin, Tops, Becker and CPK all get along just fine.

I hope this does not become a comparison thread between CPK and other brands.

That said, jd4320t jd4320t , I hope you enjoy all your knives and welcome to the CPK neck of the woods. Everything from their design and materials to their customer support has been nothing short of outstanding in my experience.

No way, all my brands live in harmony, not competition.
