I am trading for my first Damascus Sebenza. I have had BG42, S30v, and 35vn Sebenzas. I intend on EDCing and using this for light to medium duty and am curious how some of you feel it performs. Is there anything else it behaves like? It’s Devon Thomas Ladder. The newer stuff. I use a wicked edge for sharpening what degree and edge finish is best? I don’t have much Damascus experience. I have a gold class Kulgera in Damasteel and it cut surprisingly well.

Thanks in advance.

I think you can pick your own angle with the Wicked Edge.

I have a new inlay in S35VN, and the edge runs 30 degrees on one side and 23 on the other. The edge width is 24 thousandths. If I have to sharpen it, I'll probably go with 40 degrees inclusive -- 20 dps.

Usually, I go 15 dps, but with the thin edge and past experience with rolling a Sebenza edge, I'll leave the edge a bit more robust.

I go 20dps on s30v and 17 on s35vn. Seems to hold up well. Steeper than that I get issues

Thanks all. I appreciate it.

That thread was interesting GermanyChris. Thank you. I love they way that looked used. Mine shall look the same!

I don’t see a big difference in performance between the S35VN and Damascus. They hold an edge about the same.
I try to hold to the factory edge, it works for me. And I can’t put steel back on once it’s taken off.
