Hey guys this is my first post in this forum. I'm newer to knives as I've just started collecting a few months ago. Most of my collection consists of Kershaw/ZT and Spyderco. A friend of mine has a Sebenza and I've been able to handle it a few times. I've been watching for a great deal on one and found a lightly used one on the exchange. I have a few questions before it arrives.

Does the warranty apply to the orginal owner only?

Should I send it in to have the "Spa" treatment first thing or just use it?

What is this "Scotchbrite Treatment" people are talking about?

I'm excited as this is my first high end knife minus my ZT's.

I appreciate your responses and look forward to learning more from you guys. Thanks!

The warranty applies to the knife regardless.
Use it, you can always send it in for a refurb.
Scotchbrite is scuffing up the titanium, it may or may not affect the warranty.

Congratulations and welcome!

Great! Thanks for the quick answers! I plan on using it, as I use all my knives. I figure what fun is it to have them sit and collect dust!

Congrats :) good first pick there, and yeah use it i love the look of a well used plain Sebbie and i know many others here do too ;)

Congrats!

Just use it and enjoy it, if it ever gets to the point where you think that it's in need of a spa visit when you gaze upon the character that edc use gives it then send it in. You most likely won't do it until you have another one though because you won't want to be without it.

You're bank account now officially hates you, this is only the first of many ;D

Enjoy it in great health.

While I guess it's technically accurate to say that it's scuffing the titanium, it really produces a very smooth surface that seems near impossible to scratch up. And if you don't like it you can send it back to the factory to be re-blasted to get the darker more textured finish they come with. I'll post a pic later of a couple of really smoothly scotchbrited Sebenzas in a little bit...

And yes, congratulations!

Doesn't really show up well in the pics, I have a pretty cheap camera. The micarta has the factory finish, the other is very scotchbrited

The small in the middle is a little less scotchbrited than the large. Fingerprints show up, but they wipe right off. They don't really scratch at all, though.
