Just got my first one, a small Sebenza micarta.

Rather than post the usual new knife shots, here are a couple pics of my youngest whittling with the new knife this evening at the dog park. She loves making shavings, and gets really excited if she gets a big curly one. She definitely has her daddy's scowl.

Looks like your daughter got her first Sebenza. Nice choice. I had a large first and got a small second. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the small. I've always preferred medium to large knives but the small packs a lot of blade into that small package and as much cutting edge as most medium sized knives.
 
Congratulations on getting your daughter her first sebenza!!!!! You have good taste in knives and I'm sure your daughter will agree :)
 
I was considering a Small at the local shop, but the couple that I have tried seemed very tight. Do they wear in a bit, or are there smooth ones out there, or is just how they are? I'm torn between a Small and a Large.
 
Awesome! Now it's just a matter of time before the urge to get another commences. If it hasn't already :-).

My small Sebenza is tighter than my large. It's smooth, but it is still tighter than the large after 2 years.

It appears that the small fits perfectly in your daughters hand and that she already knows how to hold a knife.
