First CRK, question about Sebenza wood inlay handles/HRC

Hi,

Going to buy my first sebenza soon, and just wondering do the polished Ti handles on the wood inlay sebenzas attract much fingerprints?

Also would a knife produced January 2014 be rocking the updated 59-60HRC? The website picture shows the card still says 58-59 though so I'm a bit unsure.

Thanks.

You won't regret your purchase! And the shopping and deciding just adds to the experience!

I have two Sebs, one Sm and one Lg (both w polished Ti), and I haven't found fingerprints to be an issue! If they are there . . . I just wipe them off!! Hahaha! I have no idea about the hardness question but there are a ton of folks on the forum that will know!!!!

Post a pic of your new Seb when you get it!!!!

In my experience fingerprints are not an issue on the wood inlays. I have had probably 15 types of wood ranging from black ebony to white ivory and never had to worry about prints:thumbup:

I have had several inlayed, UG and CGG Sebenzas and have found the polished TI to be fingerprint magnets. Dosen't stop me from purchasing them though... They wipe off easy enough. I say go for it! The inlayed Sebenzas are so classy looking. One option to consider would be a micarta inlay. The TI is not polished so fingerprints are a non-issue.

Thanks for the help guys. I've decided to get a Micarta inlay instead of wood as I prefer the sandblasted handles. Can't wait to get my hands on it :D

You'll definitely like it. I never really liked the micarta inlay that much until i got one. Now it's one of my favorites. To me, the wood inlays are too nice to use. I'm always concerned about scrathing the pristine, polished blade or the polished TI. Although I would like to get a wood inlay to USE. As much as I love a mint sebenza, I also like the look of a worn sebenza.

One option on using a wood inlayed one is to find one on the Exchange. They're normally decently discounted, so you can scratch it up without worrying about it losing resale value if you later decide to go another direction.

You read my mind!!! I'm on the prowl for a reasonably priced wood inlay to put to use! Not only do you know your CRKs but you also know the psychy of the CRK addict. BTW i've read many of your posts and seen your prodigious collection you are an incredible asset to this forum and an impressive collector to say the least. I'd love to pick a few from your collection. Cheers!

Thank you for the very kind words!

That is a great idea! I need to do that myself..Was thinking of a River of Fire Mnandi- I will have to put in some heavy time, but I think the end result will justify the means.. :D

LOL!

How did I know that it would not take long for you to find that.. :D

what can you image the look of wood inlay sebbie with sandblast finish?maybe someone out there did the sandblast by himself to the wood inlay model, i suppose that might be cool.

I think it depends on how naturally sweaty your hands are. I've got super gross sweaty mitts, and my small snakewood Seb gets pretty smudged up on the Ti and satin blade. I've had it for a few years now, though, and it has never bothered me personally. Besides, it's nothing that can't be immediately cured with a quick wipe from a shirt or handkerchief.
