Treated myself to my first CRK this Christmas (a large 21) and I'm very impressed. It does indeed live up to its reputation.

I suppose I'm going through the usual CRK noob stages: debating removing the lanyard, fighting the stiff detent, etc. But overall I'm loving it.

Congrats!

I replaced lanyard with upgraded chris reeve lanyard.

As for stiff detent, only 1 proper way to loosen it. Open it and close it many many times, some polish the washer but it's usually shunned.

Good for you! It took me four months between the first and second CRK, now I'm obsessing over my third. You WILL have more Sir!

Very true..

The whole business of obsessing over knives is one thing,..Getting your first CRK is something special ;)

Congrats.
As mentioned above, these live in flocks.
You might want to add another one, so this doesn't feel lonely.
How about a small?
hope this helps ;)

Over many years of knife ownership I never saw the "need" to get a CRK. I was happy with my Benchmades, ZT's, Spydies, and a few others. Then I recently bought a Sebenza 25. It is worth every penny, and I a glad I finally got one. Congrats, and enjoy the 21.

Congratulations on your purchase. Now you know why CRK's are considered the benchmark of folding knives. CRK's look great with a lanyard but (for me) are more comfortable to use without a lanyard. Mine was removed day one. You can probably figure why I bought it. Remember a lanyard can be replaced. If I may advise, set up your knife the way you like it and enjoy. Again congratulations.

Congratulations!!!!
I'm sure you're finding out it will be broken in after a sore thumb or two.

Love that knife!. That's the baseline Sebenza in my mind. Everything added to that is a "feature", but that is the core knife.

Exactly why I chose it! I'm a minimalist at heart. The simple elegance of the basic 21 is what spoke to me more than inlays or custom graphics. That's not to say I won't add one of them in the future but starting with the core knife seemed like the only way to go.

I just got mine for Christmas, and it's an amazing, beautiful knife. Though, I have to send it back to CRK for a very sticky lock (and to fix a tiny, slightly awry machining cut on the lockbar), and I suspect it's a bad heat treat.
Just my luck, but gratz! :P

Congrats! As others have said, the detent will smooth out with time. I got my first CR earlier this year, a small Insingo micarta and was a little miffed about how hard it was to open one handed. Sure enough, after hundreds of times opening and closing, it is now the smoothest and most pleasurable knife I own to open one handed. The lockup is still as good as it was on day one as well. The other part to the equation was teaching myself to open it one handed without putting any pressure on the lock bar. Again, congrats on a very fine knife!

Congrats on your FIRST CRK. Which one are you getting next? Hahaha...

She is a beauty. I love that beautiful box o' silver too. Mmmmm.

Congratulations!

Will I be sent to another sub forum if I say, I love a stiff detente?!

I don't have a CRK, yet. But thank you for blazing the trail!

Not sure if you will be sent to another subforum or not,...but if you have started looking at Sebenzas, then I am assuming you will have one. Don't forget to post pics when it gets here :)
