First Custom Knife

I just received my 1st ever custom knife and thought I'd share it here. It was made by Gary Smith of Smith and Sons in Sulphur, La. The blade is 7" long, 1/4" thick D-2 steel, and the OAL is 12 3/8". The handle is spalted black ash burl (stabilized).

That is a classic blade, I like that a lot. What does the inscription translate to read ?
