Yesterday my Joel Chamblin folder arrived from AZCK's. I am very impressed with the knife, it has the perfect fit and finish. Does anyone else own a Chamblin or know how long he has been making knives? Why are his knives less expensive than other custom makers?($365)

Thanks, Steven

I am new concerning custom knives, so any help and advice is appreciated

I am also relatively new to customs. Sounds like you found yourself a good deal. One reason that you knife may be <$400 is because it has ATS-34 which I think is usually cheaper and easier to the maker to work with. For example, there's a Maverick, just like yours at Robertson Custom Cutlery except in BG-42 and it's going for $450.

Welcome to bladeforums. Your Chamblin folder is just the begining.

Hum have to take a look at that one. I have known Joel for about 5 years and he has been making for 10 or 11 years at least. The knives Joel makes are fantastic and a good deal, sounds like a great deal especially if it was made in the last year or so!

Enjoy it.

Joel's knives easily hold their own in quality and are priced accordingly, but there is a lot of bang for the buck in his work (always has been sicne I have known him at least). You can pay more or the same and not get quality as good.
