Few month ago I saw at the exchange nice single blade damascus slip joint with stag handles, made by M.R. Knives (Martie Robinson Knives). The price was very attractive as this one left from Blade show and he wanted quick sale. Well, I decided to pull the trigger and contacted him via PM. While we were discussing shipping arrangements the knife was sold as he put his Paypal info in the post, and I didn't post the necessary "I'll take it" just sent him PMs. I was upset on my own stupidity but couldn't do anything. Martie being very kind said he'll make me similar knife at the same price, which is very nice gesture as it is low price for this knife, and everything was my own fault.
So not long ago the knife arrived and here are some photos

The random damascus is made by Martie, and the knife is VERY sharp. The action is smooth and it has asymmetrical half stop, when opening it has very little to none half stop and while closing it has distinct half stop, which is kind of nice.

Beautiful knife! And great story. Thanks for sharing. Oh and am curious as to how an asymmetrical half stop works if anyone can explain the mechanics in layman's terms?

Cheers Richard

Mike,
congrats for your knife! I'm not a fan of stag, but the lines of this knife are very nice and look comfortable to use. As for damascus, it's always nice to see makers taking that challenge, and I'm glad you found such a kind knifemaker :)

I like the way the Damascus pattern varies between the mark side and the pile side and yet he managed to match the stag from mark side to pile side. Very nice knife.

Mike, that's a beautiful knife! And the story that goes with it ain't bad either.:thumbup:

That knife has some real positive karma associated with it now!! What pleasure it will bring to both of you, forever. Its a beauty, Mike!!

Good story.

Congrats on the gorgeous new knife!

Ooohh! That's right up my street, Barehead, many pins, small bolster and that Dam. Could you state lengths and weight at all please?
This will only get better with age, what a mouthwatering prospect.

Thanks, Will

Thanks Will, it's a beaut no doubt. Measuring 3 1/8" closed, as for the weight I can't tell right now, just that it's somewhat heavier than the wallnut charlow.

Very cool! What a nice gesture on the part of the maker. Two thumbs up!!!
And congrats on your new lil guy. Very cool. I like the deep contrast in the damascus pattern, and the stag looks great.
Could you show us a top-down photo, or a spine shot, so we can get an idea of the thickness of the handle covers?
