I think the pattern is called Hemis Kringala (or something like that). Anyhow I really like the pattern. I've really got to start making more damascus knives.

Specs:
Steel: Damasteel
Blade Length: 5"
OAL: 9 5/8"
Handle: Stabilized Redwood Burl
Bolsters: 416SS Dovetailed Mirror Finish
Pins: 24K Gold Plated Screws

In the end I epoxied the handle on so the screws are very permanent now!

Thanks for looking,
Sean

Beautiful knife, that is a nice pattern. We just did our first in damasteel also
kinda scarey grinding a piece of steel that expensive.

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate them.

I was very happy with the way the wood complimented the blade pattern. I agonized over what to put on this knife. With how expensive the steel was I took every step very slowly (and carefully). After grinding, hand sanding to mirror and then etching I think I waited something like a month to come back to it to pick a handle. I'd pick it up in the evening and try it with a different wood block until I got up the courage to put a handle on it.

Thanks Jimi. Yep you are right on the name as soon as I saw that I remembered Jeff telling me it was called fishbone.

This knife and the effect of the pattern are very striking...yeah there are alot of guys that won't use anything but damascus and natural materials. I really wanna try this stuff..how can I look it up on the web or get some? Thanks in advance for help!

Thanks everyone. Ya I definitely going to make more damasteel and also some carbon damascus knives. I've got more damasteel and plan on making at least two hidden tang knives with it and one full tang (probably).

Way to cool to stop using this stuff. It's damn expensive though!

Beautiful knife Sean. (Celia and Sandy from Afican Supply/Giraffebone.com will have damasteel at Blade also.) The wood does compliment the pattern very well, that's a great piece. If that one is missing from the box...don't worry about it. It'll have a good home. :D ;)

Beautiful work Sean! I'm still too chicken to grind the less pricey thunderforged damascus I got at Blade like three years ago... Now you're inspiring me again!

Thanks guys.

J. - Ya HA HA very funny!!!

Dave - Grind it come GRIND IT you know ya want to!

Ya I was really paranoid with this one as it was so expensive. Worked out though so I feel a sense of over confidence now! I've got more damasteel knives planned, I just know I'm going to screw one up and either sit on the shop floor crying like a baby or (the more likely scenario) throw and break something!
