First dangler, leather kydex sheath

Here is a sheath I made for a knife blank I had made for me. I also did the handle on the knife.

It uses 4-5 oz leather and has a kydex insert in it. The buckle is an old brass belt buckle I had laying around.

This was my first time playing with kydex, and let me tell you, it's tough if you don't have a proper foam press! I used a few old pillows I had laying around and my body weight.

I followed the tutorial on the forums here for the DIY kydex/leather - the noob way and this is what I came up with.

There are a few things that I'm not happy with, but overall without a foam press, it came out pretty decent.

Any constructive criticism is welcome!
Let me know what you all think!

I'll post some more pics when I get home from work

I really like the rugged look of both the knife and the sheath. Well done. If this was my handiwork, I would be pleased.

Nice job. At a quick glance the biggest thing to me would be getting the rivet spacing squared away. Otherwise I like the repurposing of the buckle, style, and leather used. It fits that knife perfectly.

You can also buy just the foam for the kydex presses if you didn't want to buy the whole press. I know my brother is changing that stuff out pretty frequently.

Thanks! Yea the rivets are a bother to me, when I spaced them out, I measured a few times to make sure they were equal distance, but I think when I drilled through I can off my mark! Not actually sure how the spacing got messed up. Good thing I don't see it much when it's used!

I may have to pick up some foam and make my own press, I like playing around with kydex now
