For some reason my local park closes to vehicle access for about 4 months through the Autumn/Winter, due to it's location this means that only those people who live on it's doorstep can really visit during that time.

Today was it's first day back open and I couldn't wait to get back in with the dogs.
Most places over here are very green but somehow this park just seems that little bit greener than all the rest, the moss seems that little bit thicker on the trees and ferns a little more dense on the ground......but maybe that's just me being biased !

The Lily pond seemed very sparse as it's completely covered over during the warmer months. I could see buds ( if that's what you call them ) on the Lillies though, a sure sign of things to come !

Didn't need my Booshway for anything today but I always feel happier with this on my belt rather than in the bedroom drawer.
Here is a tip for direction finding, if you find a stump that has been cut and left in the ground, the heart of the tree will usually be nearer the bark on the South side.....where my Booshway is !

Seeing this marker sign got me to thinking of all the different wildlife I've seen in this park over the years.

Many birds including, Eagles,Turkey Vultures, Wrens, Hummingbirds....and Owls !
Deer, Salamanders, Turtles, Snakes, Squirrels and shrews.

Some restoration work had been done but they always keep it in fitting with the surroundings. This was just a steep muddy section last year, it is now a steep gnarly rocky section !

This isn't a park you go to for amazing views, I have many others for that, however there are still some decent views to be had along the trails....

Nice stuff Pit, our trees usually have the cores more centered but that was a pretty cool tip. I'll look at them more closely next time.

Very cool pix. I might have to get up that way to check that place out.

awesome pics bro, must have had enough to drink because for a second I was thinking damn maisy is aging, look at her white arse!:D:thumbup:

I highly urge all of you to visit BC at least once, just to explore the major parks, the minor parks, or heck, just the forest in general. We have everything from desert to impassable rain forest, and every kind of weather system . The other day I experienced sunshine, monsoon rains, sleet, and then some wind and snow combined. all at 500 feet above sea level.

Beautiful photos bro. Lots of green! We don't even have fiddleheads here yet, just some ferns left over from last year.
