Ram Dao HOLY COW  I would need a ladder to hold it off the ground  What a beauty.

Fun hat too. This group will sell off fast.

Do the villager utility knives come with a scabbard?

I must say, by the way, that Lachhu makes very good knives, based on a couple of others I own from him. I really appreciate the lighter blades, as I am not a fan of the really heavy ones.

The villagers do not come with sheaths normally, think traditional yard, kitchen knife meets machete khuk. Its an all around khuk kinda like our chef knofe or cleaver def more traditional khuk.

I have a lachhu villager and i used it to cut down some spruce trees 6" plus and then cut up some deer. Mine was the sharpest HI khuk i have received i love it. Made a sheath out of kydex. However pugs work looks awesome and might need to get a sheath made for it. Just not sure how much that would be

I love the Ram Dao, I think I might ask auntie to make one that ca be mounted onto a staff, but then I'll need to find a suitable counterweight for the other end of the staff, which I am pretty sure I can find or make, since I work at a shipyard.

That would be cool on a staff! You work at a shipyard cul? Wow! Find me some lignum vitae! Dont sink no ships over it tho:p

I don't actually work on the ships. I'm the controller for the SF Boatworks, and their restaurant next door, named the "Ramp Restaurant". It has 6 slips where customer can "park" their boats, sailboats, schooners, etc..., walk up the dock, across the boat launch ramp (unused and the restaurants namesake), and into the restaurant. It's mainly an outdoor restaurant right now, and the indoor bar, small seating area, and kitchen used to actually be a bait shop. We're planning a $3.5m renovtion for next year, we are knocking the restaurant down, and building a 2 story upscale dining restaurant, but behind the restaurant, we're going to have an outside serving and eating area, and we'll keep the ambiance of the original Ramp intact behind the main restaurant. Big project, and we're really excited about it!

The Boatworks is getting a $2M renovate. We're adding about 6 more big sheds to work on the boats indoors, new travelifts to haul out and launch vessels, re-cementing the entire boatyard, adding office space, etc... Very excited about this project too! I get a big corner office on the second floor with a wondrous view of SF Bay, and the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges.

Oh boy - someone to visit in San Fransisco (with a water view and fine dining too ).:)

I've got some great (yes - some time - but I meant to write) - GREEN heart. I could ship a piece out to you NDH if you are just looking for a very dense water resistant wood.
Pretty, like greenish teak, but admittedly doesn't compare to LV.

Oops - Sorry - I'm side tracking the thread...

Ndog, I bought some lignum vitae yrs ago when I was getting hand forged Bowie fighters made for me. I have a small hunting knife with that handle on it. It’s rock solid and uniquely beautiful.

Come by anytime. Send a PM, I can always hook you up, even a sailing excursion on one of our 3 sailboats.

Lignum Vitae is amazing wood. It's off the charts in hardness, and it's one of the few wood species that's denser than water.

Here are some pics of a wakizashi that I made from LV. It's short for a wakizashi, about 14" overall, but that's all the length I could get from that piece of LV.

I should add that these pictures don't really do the wood justice. There is a very fine grain structure (in addition to the grain that you can see) that's almost impossible to capture in a photo. The wood tends to develop a very faint greenish sheen, also hard to photograph but it gives the polished object a slightly mysterious aura.
