First off, if you're interested in a lot more photos and the full monte on the entire trip, I've got a longer thread in W&SS. The stuff below is just photos of my knife. But I do suggest hitting the big thread, of course, as there's:
  • a fallen rock climber!
  • a helicopter rescue!
  • a picture of a beer!
  • a picture of an owl!
  • a picture of a dragon riding a unicorn shooting an AK at Bigfoot!*

So, here's a glamor shot:

Glamor shot with some landscape in the background. I love this part of AZ as the wide-open spaces are so big.

Me and Kid2 carved out some musical instruments, including this scraper which now has been swiped by Kid3.

Since we were there in large part to attend a party that night with a big group of climbers, I brought some mesquite logs and batoned the shit out of them. A lady walked by while I was happily smashing away and said, "Uh, we've got a saw at our camp." I looked up, said "No thanks" and got back down to business.

The baton looking a little abused. I think my hands looked worse.

Good times in the high country, I tell you.

* Gotta be honest, that was a damn lie.

Beautiful scales, did you make them yourself? what type of wood is that? They would look so nice on my stripped bk2 :)

Yep, marathonman-made out of cocobolo. It's funny... I was dead set on stripping my knife but once I put the scales on I decided that the brown-on-black looked so great that I left 'er as-is. Seems like use is already doing a number on the coating anyway.

Scales are made by Marathonman Thanks Jarod, and thank you also for your sevice young man. I only say young man because you said you have a 4 month old son and heck at 51 it seems like everyone is younger than me! Stay safe so you can get back to that lttle guy. I have a "little guy" myself but he is the 1989 model :) Thank you again soldier...or Marine.

It's soldier, and its my pleasure sir. And believe me, I'm doing everything I can to come home safe to my boy, including buying more Beckers! Lol.
