My Edge Pro arrived today and I naturally went straight into sharpening a blade (ZT 0566) after re-watching an instructional video on YouTube. And even as a novice with the system, I'm astounded by the results (mirror or close to after the 4K Shapton Glass Stone). The edge is far sharper than factory as well as personal resharpening results with my old Sharpmaker. I've a feeling this will only improve after a little practice. Any tips you guys can share?

I have been using the edge pro for about a year now and I can say that as your muscle memory increases, you get much better results faster. You will inevitably become obsessed with getting that mirror edge. The hardest part for me is figuring out the correct angle. At first I started by matching the factory angle, but ran into some trouble when the factory grinds weren't perfect. The next step was figuring out what angle works best for me and then re profiling the edge to suit my style or cutting tasks. Now I use an angle cube to know exactly what angle I have. That has helped a lot. The other thing I use a lot is a jewelers loupe. This helps me see all the imperfections on the edge.

Next you will become obsessed with whittling hairs and push cutting toilet paper. Good luck!

I dropped the angle down slightly from factory to 21 degrees. So far it seems to work well. We'll see how the edge holds up however. It shouldn't be a problem with Elmax (I don't think).
