So, I got a ridiculously sharp edge finishing up with a 4K stone.
However, I got a very slight recurve close to the heel. Hopefully you can make it out in the pic.
Any ideas how this happened?
Any way to fix it?
Thanks all.

Yes, I see that.
You mean a warp in the steel.
Surprising because it's a Sebenza.
One thing I noticed is that the recurve is right at the width of the stone when it's working on the heel of the blade.
I'm thinking this has something to do with it.
I also measured the thickness of the blade directly behind the edge at the recurve and several other places. The width is consistent throughout the length of the edge.

If its a warp I'd seriously consider sending it back. Is not that surprising, many blades have warps, even higher end knives. Very consistent freehand or a guided sharpener tend to accentuate them.

Sharpened at the shop with a belt grinder tends to hide stuff like that.

Warp or no, the best way to remove it is to sharpen it with a lot more lateral stone movement or on a larger stone surface.

But, if you can sight down the edge and see a warp I'd try to get a replacement. The only good way to remove a warp is to regrind the entire primary.

I believe I've seen videos where I've seen Ben Dale and / or Cody Kendall addressing the system putting a slight recurve in blades in front of the plunge line or in the vicinity. I don't recall whether they were discussing fixed blades or folders at the time. But apparently, it is a thing. Perhaps one or more of our members will chime in on it.

Interesting responses guys.
I've contacted CRK to see what they say about it.
I can live with it, but I'm not totally happy about it.

See this thread for examples of the recurve phenomenon occurring with use of the Edge Pro.

Interesting read, but not applicable in my case. The Sebenza edge drops off completely at the heel with a huge choil or whatever its called. This design should completely eliminate the "recurve" effect.

I haven't sharpened my Sebenzas so it's the best I could do.

It's on the way back to CRK.
I'm sure they'll say it's my fault, but I'll remain hopeful.
Who knows, it probably was my fault but it can't hurt to have them check it out.
I'll keep you posted on what they say.
