I'm sure you've heard this already but the thin liners on an Emerson larger than a 7 are a turn off for me. I would get the Super Commander only if I had plans to get a framelock conversion.
There are only a handful of Emerson designs that I really like and the CQC-8 is one of them. I just dig that blade-shape! I opted for a Horseman... :thumbup:
If you don't mind sharpening recurved blades, the Commander would be a fine choice as well. I don't think you'd be sorry with either.

How come? I've never heard of an Emerson lock failing... Also, the liners may not be super thick, but there is no relief cut out in the locking liner, so it doesn't have a point that is weaker than any other point on the liner. I'd trust the locks on any of my Emersons in pretty much any situation.
