Hey guys, I recently purchased my first Emerson mini cqc15. In full disclosure, I didn't watch any reviews or read any threads about them. Never heard of any "issues or controversy" until after I purchased it. I spent most of my time figuring out which blade shape and size would fit into my EDC role the best. I normally carry a full size griptilian, so that's what my baseline standard is. I love the axis lock. So I finally settled on the mini cqc15 and waited patiently for it to arrive. Finally it arrived. I was ecstatic. I slowly opened the box, being careful not to rip the box. Took it out of the plastic and held it in my hand. The first thing that stood out was the grippiness of the G10. I opened and closed the knife a few times to get a feel for it, and my heart dropped. It was sticky/gritty as hell and the lock was sticking horribly bad. I immediately thought that I got a bum knife. I was visibly upset. My wife even noticed and asked what was wrong. So I hopped on this forum and started to read about the sticky lock and break in period. I felt a little hope. I started opening and closing it until my thumb was raw. I even took it apart and cleaned/lubed it. It was getting a little better. For the next few days I did the same thing, opening and closing it a lot and cleaning/lubing it. It's been 3 weeks since it came and all I can say is that I absolutely love this knife. It broke in really well. Butter smooth action and nice unlock. Any new owners that are disappointed out of the box, give it time. You will be handsomely rewarded. There is def a personal connection with this knife. The time and effort to break it in makes it extra special. Thanks to the guys on this forum that explain and reaasure. I seriously considered sending it back until I read some of the threads. I only have one issue now.........I'm about to buy another on Bladehq right now. This is going to get expensive. I think the spear point cqc 7 is next. Thanks fellas!

Glad to hear all is well you are right about the break in period it makes the knife your own thanks for the Great write up on your new blade.

Good stuff brother. That's what I love about all of my Emersons. They just get better after use and break in.

And if you like the mini 15, check out the Bulldog.
