Having went thru a good portion of the entire Spyderco offerings and finding several that are keepers, a few Benchmades, Kershaws and some ZTs...I thought it time to finally try an Emerson.

I went with a A/C CQC-7A-SF. There are a few other models that I like but this one seemed the best for my interests to start with.

I carry a Para alot and this seems like its not alot different as far a intended usage and size. I really like the Para.....I hope this impresses too.

It's not as slim as the Para, it's actually quite beefy and thick. That's part of the design and as long as you keep that in mind I think you'll like it.

This will be interesting! I went back and forth with the 7 and the Para. The 7 won... for now. :)

Same for me...the 7B knocked my P-Military out of my pocket, and straight to the for trade page. The 7 does take up slightly more room in the pocket, but I like the thicker locking liner, and thinner blade profile of the Emerson. Also the fit and finish has been great on my 7A, and B. I'm so impressed with the new stonewashed Emersons I have a Mini A100 on the way.

Cool Dave.
The only folder I rotate my 7 with is my Metro Razor by Black Bear Knives.

Is the pivot screw on the 7A as simple as it looks?

Or is it supposed to be set and locktited or something.

Looks adjustable on the fly...

You can use loctite or teflon tape. IMO they get loose way too easily. You can adjust them with a flathead screwdriver.

yep, imho tape or loctite (tape for me) is a must do to keep the pivot adjusted right, i cant recall a single EKI i havent had to do it to.

After i bought my first Eki 7 i traded my two Para's and my Millie to find funds andf buy more Emersons:) thats my story

Or... you can flip the pivot screw around. It doesn't look as good but it won't loosen up. Potterma taught me this.

Got the CQC-7A today.

Love the grippy ergos, sharp thin blade, and the overall build quality.

Its got one of the most solid, positive locking liner-locks Ive tried, too....and I dont usually like those.

Pretty happy with it. I can see why its a legend.

Congrats on your 7A, it's a great knife  I'm not a huge fan of liner locks either, but my Emerson 7B locks up like a vault, and I trust my Emerson's lock as much as any lock on a folder. I like my 7B so much I just picked up a mini A100, and this one exhibits the same quality as my 7B.
