Bought an Izula today, first fixed blade purchase. Great little knife.

Was playing with it, trying to get it out of the sheath, started yanking it. Had an overhand grip on the sheath, thumb was parallel to the handle. Blade came out - blade, meet thumb. Lotta blood lol but not too bad. What a noob :D

ah... another victim to the dreaded little ant. :D it's amazing that this knife is responsible for so many bites, yet we all still love it and swear it's the greatest little knife. i was even going to cut my bandages off with mine after it bit me, but i was getting some pretty harsh looks from the wife, so i opted out. :)

Just an FYI, mongol -- you'll get a 3 next, and then a 4, and then a 5, and . . . well, you can see where this all leads!

I'm sorry to hear about your thumb, but happy to hear about your conversion to fixed blades and ESEE. Now you just need to be converted to the dark side.......serrations.

Pick up a 3 next, it's a sweet knife. It is still small but can handle bigger tasks than the Izula.

After that, you'l probably want to pick up the rest of the numbered line and hopefully a serrated model.

Luckily I haven't been bit by my Izula yet... but i've only had it since yesterday.

Soon enough i'm sure it will get me.

I vote HEST.
I just bought my second one, the safe queen (at least for now). My other HEST (the first ESEE I owned) is taking off her clothes right now, then she will take bath in vinegar :jerkit:
Really nice blade though.
I dig the Izula, definitely a fine little knife.

LOL -awesome story!

I saw the 3 in the store too, nice. It's on the list.

Yea... people really need to use their thumbs to press knives out... :P

Thumb was parallel to knife and sheath. Bottom half of my thumb was resting against the bottom of the sheath, top half of thumb was just hanging in the air about an inch below the handle. Try it, you'll see what I mean ;)

Come on dude, don't be ridiculous.
He needs a 4 next. :D

+1

And depending on where you live/what you do you probably really wouldn't need another ESEE. Those two cover so much.

God bless,
Adam

PS: I will be busy being burned in effigy if you need me after this post. ESEE's are great, just don't become an ESEE crackhead.

Check out the 3MIL-S.....comes with the Molleback and has some cool serrations! I find it's not really that much bigger than the IzulaII - the cutting part of the blade is only 1/2" or so longer.....maybe 1/4", but it has the finger choil which effectively makes the blade part longer. The handle isn't that much bigger either when you hold them up both with your index finger at the guard stop.

When you hold them with your index finger at the guard stop, it looks like the 3MIL has a lot more blade, but 1/2" of that is a finger choil. They effectively made the knife a bit bigger/longer with the choil which also allowed you to choke up and only have your last three fingers on the handle.

The 4 is a sweet blade, definitely compliments the Izula well.

Depending on what state he lives in, the 3 might be better if he plans to EDC it since the blade is 3.38". I can conceal 3.5" or under, so the 4 has to be easily visible or lashed to a bag/pack and that would get me weird looks at work.
