For the past 6 weeks I have looking for the perfect Camp/survival/bushcraft knife.
My needs are pretty specific: Fine whittling (snares and other crafts), light-medium batoning and limb whacking, field dressing etc.
I was looking for a knife I could take on a camping trip, extended day hike, or pack it with a sleeping bag, flint and do a survival stint in the woods.
Here was my line up: RC 3, RC 4, RC 6 OR -- Fallkniven A1 or S1 --- Or one of the 4-5 inch bark river knives.
I wanted a true working knife that won't chip or nick if it hits dirt. Something functional - not too heavy , not too small... or breaks the bank.
The RC 3 seemed a hair too small, the RC 6 seems to be entering machete territory... I did not like the geometry of the A1 / S1 blades and the Bark rivers seem amazing, but I'd rather spend the difference on more gear.
Sooo.
I JUST orded the RC-4 (ESEE)! Got the Orange G-10 handle plain dark green blade.
It IS an addction... as I am already eyeing the Izula folder for an EDC when it's available.
I'll share pics when it arrives and take it into the field.
