OK - In one of my brilliant ideas, (well, maybe not so brlliant) I have decided to host the first meeting of The CTBABWBs.

The meeting will be held at the Bill Miller BBQ on Burnet Road at 6pm this coming Wednsday, 30 Oct 2013 Everyone will be responsible for their own food bill. (Remember, I'm a new Beckerhead to-be that just drank the koolaid. I need to keep my money for more Beckers.)

This meeting has no purpose except to eat BBQ and get to know our fellow Becker clansmen/women.

You don't have to be a full blown Beckerhead to attend, just someone who likes Beckers.

Love the idea, but won't be able to make it to this one. Will have to shoot for a week end date sometime.

I'm interested. I agree that a weekend date would be better. 6pm is a little rough for me as I live pretty far south, and traffic would take me well over an hour to get there......but I am interested. I used to live less than a quarter mile from that Bill Miller!
Even if you work on the weekend, I'm not opposed to an evening meetup

I picked a time and date to get the ball rolling and didn't conflict with my schedule. :)

If the general concensus is that's too early, the time can slide back to 6:30 or whenever you can get there.

Right now my weekends are booked solid and the PTB are not filming REVOLUTION in Willoughby (Bartlett) this week so I was open.

I'm kinda doing this the way I do parties. I pick when and where and whoever can make it, will. We'll never be able to accommodate everyone, so we'll just vary things as we go.

My ultimate goal is that we put together a Beckerfest, Texas style. May not occur for a while, but we gotta get started somewhere.

I'm really liking this idea, I know we have a few Beckerheads in Austin, and I really like the idea of a meet up. I don't think I can make it this time, but keep this up....I will show up at some point :)

I like the idea...anybody care to send me round trip, first class tickets; Braniff International Airways is preferred airline. Thanks. :D

Bump to remind all CenTex Beckerheads and Fans of Beckers that "we" are having a BBQ get-together tomorrow at 6 pm.

So far, I know of at least 1 attendee. :D Hope some of the rest of y'all can make it.

Well, "We" had the First Ever CenTex Becker Meeting.

Roll was called.
As there was not a quorum present :( , no business was discussed and the meeting was adjourned to the serving line.

A good time was had by all. Well, a great meal of brisket, green beans, potato salad, rye bread and tea was enjoyed by me. :D

If we get 1 more to turn out at the next meeting, we'll double attendance.

I did talk about Becker Knives and Beckerheadedness with 3 people who had their curiosity overwhelm their caution about why I had such a prominent table with a sign on it. I steered 1 of them towards the BK15/16/17 range of knives. Knowing the manager helps when doing crazy things. I had told him that I was hosting a meeting of Knife Knuts with an anticipated turnout of 1 to 30 and he "gave" me a table for 4 near the door, possibly in hopes that I'd leave quickly :)

And since it's "Pics or it didn't happen" here's a pic. ;)

No man should have to eat alone, especially in a public restaurant; way to go Texas Beckerheads.

Wasn't the first time and won't be the last. Notice I had a book with me just in case (red rectangle on table... yes, some of us here in Texas do know how to read something other than comic books. :D )

To be fair, I did give folks only a day and a half to change any plans they may have had, it was a Wednesday, on which around here lots of organizations have meetings, church doings (Baptists and Catholics for sure, maybe others.),etc, and we had one hell of a massive set of thunderstorms start rolling through late this afternoon with flash flood watches in effect. I'm not sure how much rain we've had, but my 5" rain gauge runneth over.

It did give me a chance to talk to folks about knives in general and Beckers in particular. :)

Well, I'm glad your glass is half full, and if I'm ever your way someday, I'll look you up to claim those "Coach tickets" you have for me.:D

Sorry to hear that you were the only one that showed up. I would have come, but live a little far. Do you know of any Beckerheads in the Corpus/Rockport area, that's where I live.

We'll have to do this again with a little or maybe a lot more notice. My father was born and raised in Grainger and I'd like to make the trip to see where he grew up.
I checked it out when you posted this and it looks like Grainger is less than an hour from you. I hope we get a chance to do this right.

Granger is about 12 minutes away and that's if I follow the speed limits. :D I just scheduled the meeting in Austin because that's where more people are. I actually pass through Granger about 50% of the time when I go to Austin.
