First ever complete viking burial found in Britain!

"IT’S the sort of find most archaeologists spend their careers looking for, a discovery unseen by human eyes for more than a thousand years.

The first fully intact Viking boat burial site ever uncovered on the UK mainland has been found on the Ardnamurchan peninsula in Lochaber.

The 16ft-long grave contained the remains of a “high-status Viking” who was buried with an axe, a sword and a spear.

Archaeologists say the find is hugely significant and will lead to an improved understanding of how the Vikings came to Scotland."

The cartoon version of the vikings is of a bunch of hairy barbarians, pillaging seaside villages. They were actually good farmers and good organizers. They brought a lot to the British Isles, including elements of their language. They conquered a portion of France and as Normandy become rulers of the Anglo-Scandinavian people of England, also. They established a Christian-Muslim kingdom in Sicily. They were the Rus who gave their name to Russia when they set up the first cities in what is now Ukraine. They were fine craftsmen, and had their own runic letters to write with.

But times change, and there isn't much left of the great North Germanic peoples, ... except 1234!

I hope they remove the rust...so we can see whats left!

You would probably see what they look like better with x-ray photography, with items that corroded, there might not be much metal left.
