Hey guys, made my first flint and steel fire today. Posted on bcusa, wanted to share with you fellas here too.

Field expedient(friend from bcusa) sent me some items in the mail, mainly primitive/traditional fire starting gear. I've been practicing with the flint and steel, finally got some char cloth to take a spark so I went for a fire. Used fatlighter, hardwood and some jute twin teased into a birds nest. Prepped the wood with the Israeli Trackker and then got to work with the flint and steel, only took about 3 strikes.

This is awesome, thanks to field expedient for walking me through this. :4:

That's really cool M26. Now on dry days you can practice with all sorts of organic materials too. Good and dry powdered polypore fungi will take a spark and ember. VERY dry and spongy punk wood will take a spark and ember too. There are other things out there, have fun experimenting.

That FOX knife has some clean lines on it.

Yeah bud, it's a neat knife. Jimping can get a bit painful though.

Thanks. I've been playing with it a lot. I'll be working with natural tinders next and finding my own "sparking" rocks. Pretty neat stuff. Once I'm profiecent with it I'll move to friction fire.
