Well when I posted my first post to say hey and show a picture of my EDC people said the twenties hanging out of my wallet would disappear. Well………they where right!!!!!!! I just bought a bench made 550sbk. Can someone tell me how they hold up? I paid $100 at a local gun shop. Did I get a good deal? This is my first high quality / expensive knife. My name is randy and I am a knife addict

:) :) :) :)

Quick question, I can't find a description for a "Benchmade 550sbk". Is that a typo, or do you have some less-common Griptillian configuration?

As to the price, shop around and see how you did. Knifeworks has a good selection of Griptillians, but not a "550sbk".

Hi Randy. My name is Bob, and I'm addicted to knives.

Doh! I searched with Google, and the inventory at several online dealers. Who'd of thought of looking at Benchmade's own website?

Rush290, i have a BM 555 plain edge mini. it was my first quality knife. it has been opened and closed 1,154,215,256,124 times and is still as solid as the day i brought it home. you have a fine knife and will enjoy it for years. don't worry about the price as we all have purchased something we could have gotten a better price on. what counts is you have quality product and will become savy on finding good prices. *enjoy!*

What do you consider expensive??

My first quality knife was a SAK, probably about $20. From there I jumped in price just a bit to the Al Mar Auto SERE for about $200. My first custom was a Tom Mayo large TNT for close to $600. I guess my next big step will be the over $1,000 knife. And trust me it is coming, I am moving more away form production stuff and only buying customs lately. :D  ;)

Oh, and the ECCKS is coming up next week, but I doubt I will be able to buy anything there. :(

Rush290,

you didn't get the best "deal" on that knife, but don't sweat it. the 550 and all of its variants are fantastic knives that lock-up great, hold a wicked edge and take a real beating.... i think you'll be quite pleased!

when i first got into knives, a local knife store fleeced me for about $35 more than i would have paid online. oh well, i just didn't let it happen again. you better not either! :D;)

good knife, have fun, and be sure to stick around!
