So we decided to go rafting. I love rafting and have a fair amount of experience. They of course had no experience and made the initial 30 minutes a little....tense. :D We headed north to the Lehigh River. The rapids ranged from class I to class III. There was enough class III rapids to get the excitement up but also stay within my comfort level for safety. I had an inexperienced crew! After I got my crew organized, we had a great time. 12 miles of rafting in 5 hours.

Of note....I get made fun of constantly because I always have some sort of kit with me. Well...of course I had a small kit with a knife (Kershaw Leek) a Fenix light, Gerber multi-tool along with basic first aid supplies. Everything was all sealed up and packed to stay dry. Both 10 year olds busted their legs up on rocks.....dad to rescue. I looked so cool after that. Here is a pic......fun time for all.

What better way to get tired, hungry and wet !!! My choice is canoe or kayak but for a family especially beginners , rafts are better.

I prefer a canoe as well...but they don't absorb the impact of really big rocks as well as a raft. :D We bounced off a couple that day until I got them "organized." I only cursed a few times.....

Thanks for sharing the good times with a post.

The water temp. should be good this time of year too.

Do you ever put a hole in your raft with all those rocks?

The water was nice......when we had flat water the boys would jump in and swim around.....which presented a perfect opportunity to teach them how to properly pull someone in to the boat. :)

I've only ever seen the raft tear...
