Nothing real special, just a little hunter. When a cousin of mine got married several years ago, I made her and her groom a couple of bowies. They were some of the first blades I ever forged, and were pretty awful. (Note, awful does NOT mean the same thing as awesome. :D )

So recently I offered to replace them with something of my current quality, and my cousin wanted one like my own EDC. So here is what she's getting:

Total length around 7-1/2" steel is O1, handle is white linen micarta and red liners.

Sorry about the poor picture quality. Something went wrong when I edited them...

Looks Good.
Did you forge the bevels flat then hollow grind?

Off topic: (what is you avatar of?)

Thanks!
No forging on this one. It was ground out of 5/32" O1 and heat treated in my new salt pot.
My avatar is a picture of me with a plastic bag full of oxy/acetylene exploding 10 feet behind me. I was wondering if anyone would ever ask about that. :D
I like blowing things up, including myself. But only in complete safety, of course. Safety first! Kids, don't try this at home. Or anywhere.

Sweet blade, Phillip! Love the deep hollow grinds.

And salt pot?!

Hope you got my email.

BTW, if you're using salt-pots and can still use 1086M, I'm more fond of martensite than bainite.

Phillip, I like the lines of taht knife better than any of the small knives you have made lately. If you make another one you can put my name on it.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I've been carrying one like this for several months, and couldn't be happier with it. I got used a lot while I was building the heated part of my shop.

Hey Thom! I got your email, I'll go answer it now. :)

Yours was heat treated in the salts at the same time, but sadly, with different results. :(

Don't worry, no bainite here. ;)

Phillip. Nice clean looking knife, looks really handy. I also am impressed with the crispness of your name. Is it etched? and if so what size font are you using? Thanks Dan

Phil, great knife, perfect EDC. Where abouts did you find the white linen micarta?

I got it from Sheffield Supply. They have the best prices and selection of micarta that I know of. The white is significantly less expensive than the ivory colored paper, and less prone to burning.

Thanks, Dan!
My mark is stamped in, not etched. I don't remember what size font I had them make it, but the mark is about 1/4" tall and 3/8" long.

Here's what my cousins husband is getting:

It's about an inch and a half longer than the other one.
