Hey guys!

So I've had some time to tinker in the shop finally... and instead of working on all the fixed blades today I decided to tackle something crazy that I've never done before.

Here is the CAD drawing that I came up with a couple of weeks ago.

So here is my first liner lock, at least the VERY rough beginnings of it. I wish I had fancier tools to work with, but it feels pretty damn good to have done this much, with so little.

Blade is 3", 1/8" CPM-154
Black G-10 slabs, with 0.050 Ti liners
OAL is just a hair under 7"

(I'm right handed, and so is this knife... but I sanded the ends off of my thumb and index finger today and they are all bandaged up, hence my left and less mangled hand gets to model :D)

Next step will be drilling for and setting the detent ball, and softening the edges of all the G-10. Then I will remove a bit of material where the thumb goes to disengage the lock, and jimp the lock bar a bit. After the lockup is solid and all that I will finally get around to actually GRINDING the blade :D

I originally had a black G-10 back spacer planned for it, but I prefer a knife that can be "de-gunked" without having to take it apart.

I had a helluva time cutting the lock out, but 6 dremel cutting discs later I had it done haha.

The lock is only JUST engaging right now, but it got to -1*C in my garage, and I couldn't feel my fingers or pick up any of those tiny 2-56 screws anymore... so I left it as is for now.

Thanks for looking! I'll update with more pics as it gets further along

hot damn, I'm impressed.
didn't you only get your makers mark a few months ago, and now you're already into folders?
That's some serious inspiration.

Looks great so far. Some day I'm going to try a folder, but I just don't have the gumption yet. Got all the tools at work, it's just me not ready to do it yet. Make sure you post finished pics when you're done.

Thanks guys!

Daizee: You are correct... it was only this summer I got a makers mark haha. I just couldn't resist the call of the folder, my most high tech tool used for this project was a reamer for the pivot :D

TS: Go for it! I'm not gonna lie, it was some of the most frustrating work yesterday, with the tiniest of changes on your components making HUGE changes on the way everything moved... I learned a lot in a few short hours. But it was well worth the fun!

Nice. I'm looking forward to the finished pics too. The simple lines of it appeal to me.
