I don't own a single folder, and I'd like to change that.

I don't really know what I want, but I know what I don't want.

I don't want:
Clip point
Wharncliff
Sheepsfoot
Cleaver style
Liner lock
Opinel
Slipjoint
Anything larger than 4 inches
8Cr13MoV is lowest end steel I'll agree to
Not over 70€ (75$)

Oh, it's a plus if it can be opened with one hand.

Purpose for the knife , most common uses for you ?

Price range ?

Purpose would be EDC, from cutting tape and string to zip ties and sometimes food.

I only need folder for more formal situations when it might be strange to pull out my fixed blade.

So far I'm looking at KaBar Dozier Hunter in D2, Spyderco Ladybug, and AUS8 Micro Recon 1 spear point.

Google Nick Shabazz's review of best budget friendly everyday carry pocket knives

I have had good luck with spyderco and would highly recommend them. I think the Endura would fit your specs, but its on the longer end of your blade length requests. And new models are a few dollars over your budget.

I am curious - (on your original list of disqualifiers) What is the problem with a liner lock? It doesn't sound like you are going to expecting a heavy work load out of the knife.

I would've said Kershaw Blur, if it wasn't for that. A little bigger than your other ideas but light, handy, super easy to deploy, and incredibly sharp factory edge that seems to last. 65 bux.

Edit - oh yea, I guess it could also be considered a clip point

The one you should buy, is the one YOU like the best. Blade steel doesn't matter much at this point in your knife life. Here's what I would do. Set a budget, then buy the knife that appeals to you. Go to an online store and start looking.

from the list of exclusions and short list, the new kabar dozier in d2 is the best of the bunch, you really will never regret it: tough, simple, established company with good overall quality control

it looks really nice also & only costs half your budget ; )

To update: Me and few more friends talked him out of buying a knife... so we can buy him a knife as a surprise and thank you.

We got him large clip point Voyager in AUS10, he didn't mind at all that it's a clip point, few minutes earlier he text me that he's still carrying this knife in his pocket, even at home so I'd say he's happy.

I was hesitant on what to get him, especially since someone on my thread has pointed me to this thread and I read "no clip point"... but as they watched reviews, this Voyager hit discount, and there was one last piece was remaining... other 2 friends were just like "we got him the knife" and that was it.
