Well, I finally forged some knives. Still have a lot to learn, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

steel: 1095
blade length:3 1/2" to 4 1/2"
Handle:Curly maple, micarta, deer leg bone
Heat treat: 3 normalize and edge quenched in 150F canola oil.
Etch: FCl and vinegar

The first 3 were given to some deer hunters to test for the last month and all 3 sold. The fouth one is my EDC.

Very nice...
I really like the ones with the maple.
Mace

The blade geometry looks right, so does the width and the overall shape. They have to be good cutters. All of them are nice. Of all, I like the second one down the best! Nice job, keep it up:thumbup:!

Thanks for the kind words. The second one was originally handled with curly maple but the customer wanted micarta with a rough grip. It was finished 60 grit and hand filed grooves. The curly maple came from a 1"x8"x10' piece of maple, every inch is curly. The maple is 7/8"thick after the plaining.

They all look great. Looks to me like you do ok on the forge work.
