Help Me Decide on a Good Framelock! I am looking at this from a knife I will use type perspective.

Right now the decision is between a LionSteel Sr-1 Vs CRK Small Sebenza 21.

Is there another knife you would recommended in that price range??

Which one would you pick and why?

Thanks,
Adam

Sr-1 vs Small Sebenza are completely different in terms of size. I would recommend a Large Sebenza 21. The small is just a tad too small for me. I think the large Sebenza 21 is one of the finest folding knives ever produced, and it is my personal favorite along with my Ray Laconico. Check out the Insingo blade shape also, but I prefer the standard blade.

+1 for the Sebenza, +1 for the large.

IMO, the best framelock out there.

Sebenzas are great, I wish Chris would come out with a flat ground carbon bladed though. I've gotta give a nod to the Jim Burke Rockstar, other than the pocket clip...she's just about perfect for me :D
The spyderco Chokwe is the best slicer Ive ever used, along with the Ti milllie.
The Grayman Satu is just a friggin tank of a knife, it's a massive beast and its wide enough to look like a sharpened tactical spatula!
I also like my HEST 2.0...I would put her up against any strider out there in the same size range (every strider Ive had seems to have lockup issues, so I gave up on em) And no one can mention framelocks without giving love to the Hinderer :D
Im on the hunt for a Tripwire now, they look awesome, but Ive never handled one.
Welcome to the framelock addiction brother...good luck to your wallet :)

The large Sebenza has been a classic for over two decades now for good reason.

I'm sure the SR-1 is a great knife. I've just found that for 99% of actual knife tasks anything thicker than about 3.5 - 4mm seems overly thick. The large Sebenza is going to be slimmer, sleeker, lighter, and a better slicer than the SR-1. It's more than heavy duty enough for anything I've had to use a knife for.

Unless you spend a lot of time prying with your knives, I don't really see how you could go wrong with a Sebenza.

Edit: Why not add the Umnumzaan to your consideration? It's a bit thicker and "beefier" (I really hate that word) than the Sebenza.

I can't speak for Sebenza vs SR-1, but I can speak for the SR-1 itself. It is amazing. the one piece titanium handle is beautiful to look at and hold and is as solid as a handle can be. The roto-block functions so well as a lockbar stop, stopping the lock bar from over-extending and, if engaged, keeping the lockbar from budging when the blade is open creating a pseudo fixed blade. The deep carry pocket clip leaves something to be desired in a pocket clip, this is just my opinion of course. It has a glass-breaker tip which is not a must have for me, but it is nice all the same. The blade came shaving sharp right out of the box, and from what little I've learned about Sleipner steel (similar to D2) I can say it is a good quality steel.
I'm not saying which I think you should get, just giving a brief review of the SR-1 to help you in this decision. For the record, I will own a Sebenza someday and look forward to owning what some would consider the "best" production folder on the market.

Large Sebenza! 4.7 ounces vs the SR-1 at nearly 7 ounces. Very different, but I think the sebenza is hands down a better edc.

I would love to get in on the passaround.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I think I am leaning towards a large Sebbie... Also going to look into the Grayman, Les George, and Umnumzaan. The SR-1 does sound like a virtual fixed blade but its a bit on the heavy side, and to be honest I really dont dig how the back of the knife looks...

Frame locks to name a few of top of my head: BM Skirmish, Striders, HEST folders, Spyderco leafstorm, sage, lmt military, buck mayo tnt, ZT folders.
Out of given 2 I'd pick the Sebenza as I have a large regular one that I got in 2008, It has never let me down since. It's butter smooth and super easy to dissemble for cleaning.

Being that you like the SR-1, have you taken a look at the spyderco lionspy?

I am looking into the lion-spy it is quite attractive at 5.9 ozs... Elmax steel. Hmmm It seems the Les George VECP is difficult to find. But I guess anyone of em are going to take a bit of patience. Was also pondering the ZT 0560... Seems there are a lot of good choices... Got signed up for the Sebenza pass-around so that will be good to try out.
